So, I decided to take the time to gather up some data in regards to the amount of teams, trashtalking, deathmatch teaming in our Survival Games, for we "apperently" have an issue with these things. I wanted to see what the trust was, so with the help of BitoBain we gathered data on 30 different games. We gathered the following information:
How we calculated this data was by taking the amount of games that had X amount of a certain size team, and figure out the percent of the chances of finding that amount of that team in-game.
At first glance, you can safely say that 76% of the time you'll find a at least 1 team of two, 26% chance of finding at least a team of 3, and a 12% chance of finding a team of 4 or more. As this data is true, that doesn't mean we have an issue straight out of the box. If you look at the amount of times a team won a game, was only 25% of the time. So, you will at least find 1 team in a game, but chances of them winning are only 1 in 4.
We also collected data of players trashtalking. We collected this by counting each player that said "Ez","Noob","Bad",etc. If the same player continued to trashtalk, the count didn't increase. We didn't count GG as trashtalking because people could legitimently be saying "Good Game" with good sportsmanship. We also didn't count "Hacks" or "Hacker" because it could be a legitiment accusation. From what we collected, 76% of the time a player said at least 1 thing of trashtalk. That may seem like a lot, but most of the time it was a player saying "noob" after dying then leaving, nothing more. Sometimes an argument came, but not as often as we thought at first.
What can we take away from this data? That teams of two are relatively common, while higher teams are somewhat more rare. As there might be a team in the game, the chances of that team making it to deathmatch is a 36% chance, and a 25% chance of winning. Also in 76% of games played, at least one person did some sort of trashtalking.
I don't want to make a conclusion on this data alone, so I'd like the input of you guys of what to make of this. If you feel that there isn't enough data to conclude a true answer, I'd be more than willing to go collect more data and chance the percentages. If you want to view each game individually, feel free to look at the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BBvGsuDFBTig0DPpdidqFsAtL2cXVAsNHPLS-ouXP8c/edit?usp=sharing
