Considering four people in this thread have stated that they have an IQ over 150, I think we have some misconceptions. There is no set global standard for IQ tests. Even if you take one at an official testing center, it could be easier or harder than elsewhere because there are no standards between states, let alone countries. IQ tests rely heavily on random facts, knowledge taught in schools, and problem solving skills. You may think you are smart, but if you were put into a random desert in Africa, an unintelligent person who has lived in Africa will survive better than you.

IQ tests do not test social skills, street skills, survival skills, creativity, communication skills, and many other things that we think of as intelligence. If you have taken an online test, the test was likely heavily weighted towards logic, math, and linguistic skills. It also probably gave you a score over 100 regardless of how smart you really are.

How well you do in school is not an accurate indicator of your intelligence, either. People who do well in school have good memory and a good work ethic rather than other types of intelligence. Intelligence is more of an arbitrary attribute that is impossible both to measure and define. Intelligence cannot be measured by how well you perform a task, as some tasks are more relevant to some individuals. You can only define and measure intelligence when you have discovered the motives for every living animal, what they love to do, and what they try to do.

I'm street-smart, and academically smart. I make connections between things; I've got common sense.

But, somewhat ironically, since I've joined MCSG I've seen there's much more than just academics. Being social is important. Getting involved is important. I've met so many amazing people in this community that have helped me realize how great of a person I can be, and I enjoy being with friends.

School isnt really a good descriptor of "smart". What I consider being smart is you are able to be in any situation and know what to do, how to react, how to execute the steps needed to overcome a situation. School teaches you to remember things, not to generate new knowledge and "create" things. IQ Is different. I've taken an online IQ test (too lazy to actually go into a place, plus that costs money) and got 140. Do I think it is accurate? No, but do I think it IQ actually represents how smart you are, no. Like I said above, being able to generate ideas and think critical about a situation is being "smart" to me atleast :p

I just turned 13 years old and I got a 122 on an online IQ test. It seems low and I feel stupid.. is that good for my age?

There's a couple of great articles online that show the secret to online IQ tests and how they calculate their scores. Every single free online IQ test that was reviewed in the articles I read were always based on how quickly the person finished the test, not how many questions they got right in a short time period. I've avoided the online ones for this reason, as even the paid ones have bad reviews on them. Now, legitimate "taken in person" IQ tests are in no way set-in-stone ways of figuring out if people are smart, which is why the IQ system has been bashed in the past. But it is a way to validate cognitive abilities, and a persons overall skill. If you're really determined to take an online IQ test though, I'd only go with (Removed this link. I noticed it's 5 dollars now. PM me for the link) - 60 questions, not timed unfortunately. But this one seems to be the most accurate of the huge selection of junky tests out there.

Real life IQ tests like the Stanford-Binet and the Wechsler tests are the usual standard ones. I'd suggest everyone look into taking one once they turn 16, 17, or 18 if your high school doesn't offer it automatically. If you score extremely high, it's a nice thing to sneak onto a college resume!

Just two days ago I found out about a site that isn't quite an IQ test, but in my opinion, so much better. http://www.cambridgebrainsciences.com/ . Check that out if you're interested in your intelligence level. Like an IQ test, this site breaks the testing down into 12 or 13 categories, and once you finish each category it'll compare you to the others who have taken the test. Once you've taken every test, you get your overall number based on their system, and then it'll compare you with everyone else' overall number. It's a really great tool, because it tests you like a real life IQ test does, plus adding some new categories.

For those of you who say you've scored 140+ on a standardized IQ test, congrats! You're at a near-genius - genius level, but the way I see it, that doesn't matter. I took my first when I was 13, and scored a 123. I was also diagnosed with ADHD-I after the test results came back from that IQ test, thankfully. Because I suffered from that for so long, it killed my motivation for anything, and my lack of concentration and care led to me not doing as good as I could have in early grade school. I then took an adult one last year since I was curious about it and I scored an overall 163 between verbal and performance sections (I didn't actually believe it when I first got the results back lol). Does it actually matter though? Not really. All an IQ test does is examine your ability to process different information, and how quickly you can react to the information. I've met some pretty damn smart "sounding" high IQ people who have amounted to hardly anything in life.

I'll stop with this wall of text now! I could post a lot more about the subject, because it's an intriguing one. I'll add one last important thing though; IQ can be taught, learned, and practiced if you have the patience to do it!

I'm a straight A+ student with an IQ of 164 as of November last year, I'm working 3 years above my age in every subject which is mainly academic, Social Studies, Math, English, Science, Languages (Danish) and History, as well as Computer Technology. I have received 3 scholarship offers from different universities all around the world.
An IQ of 164 is crazy. Genius is like 130.

Grades doesn't define your intelligence c; Just because you have much homework, doesn't mean you'll get smarter c: I normally get A to A+ in everything (except Math.. ew) But it doesn't mean I'm smart. Smart is the choices you take, the way you behave, how you talk to people, how you react in some situations and how you handle them. Smart is not all about grades or how much you study ;3 Bill Gades dropped out of school in a young age, he is a super smart man (very rich too). Bill had a talent and he knew what he was good as, he used his talent on something that interested him and now he is famous ans rich. Stay in school though....
Gates. Bill Gates. Not Gades. I'm sorry I had to <3

When I was 11 I read the same books that a 21 year old reads. Matthew Reilly, Clive Cussler, etc Basically I am now yelled at for not reading because I have read all the books that interest me.

SOLUTION: I read Big Nate over and over again :D
