There was no poll because although the staff do like input from the Community Members, they needed to fix bugs in 1.7 & update whether the Community wanted to stay on it or not.
What bugs?

Okay. People's armor aura doesn't turn red anymore, you can't blockhit, and the entire issue of autoclicking was almost fixed. If anything, 1.8 has benefitted us. It took a while for hacks to update to the version, meaning the hacker population decreased, and closet cheating (macros/TB) has been nullified.
The hacked clients came out earlier than Optifine, as a result more hackers less frames. And I guess you can't really macro anymore so that's cool.

As for the lag, I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I split my time between my mom's and dad's house and neither of my computers have had any frame rate drops, I mean these computers are pretty good but I still would have had some FPS drops, and I haven't.
Could you explain to me why I run 100 fps on 1.8 and 2oo fps on 1.7, with exactly the same settings :/

1.8 hasn't "taken away from all skill" it's made us adapt to new ways of PvPing. It's opened my eyes to things other than click speed and strafing, although click speed never was a determining factor in a fight, it was only slightly beneficial if you look at the legitimate mechanics of PvP.
Hackers get 6 block hits on 1.8 whilst you could trade hits with them on 1.7

So, I've done a lot of defending on 1.8. I think it has improved the mechanics of our network by letting us add features that would be otherwise impossible. Yes, 1.7 is more comfortable for playing, but having our server 1.8 evens out the playing field.

Look at Badlion. They have both versions, but they also have serious lag issues, and an uneven playing field. Players on 1.7 have a distinct reach and combo advantage over players on 1.8.

Overall, 1.8 is the most recent and stable version of Minecraft and we need to accept that. You can't stay on 1.7 forever.
As I've already told you, it's up to people to decide wether to go on 1.8 or on 1.7. People would obviously choose the version that they prefer the most. People can choose the version on what they play the best on. If you just update to 1.8 people who would use 1.7 would only be used to that version and will have a severe disadvantage on those who usually play with 1.8

Sorry if there were no correct sentences whatsoever it's 3 AM in the morning I have to go to sleep.

Hello tributes! (starting official so it looks proffesional)

But seriously, 1.8 isn't as bad as it seems. Clicking speed does indeed matter (more than ever), and there are tactics involved. You're just going to have to get used to it. Personally, I'm going to wait to learn the 1.9 PvP mechanics and completely skip 1.8 out of sheer laziness.

It's all about keeping up-to-date with Minecraft's new updates, and if they don't, there will likely be a decrease in quality. Once the majority of Minecraft players use 1.9, the network will update as well.

I don't think it's fair to say that the staff don't play the game when the number 1 position at the moment is a Sr. Mod ;)

Also, I completely agree with you for wishing that we could get some aspects of 1.7 PvP back. Honestly, I play a lot more now than I did before and there are things that I definitely don't think I noticed as much in 1.7 such as extended reach and how easy it is to get comboed.

As croe already stated, from what I've been told it's impossible to revert back to 1.7. That's why I'm hoping that 1.9 is the answer for many of us. Trust us though, it's not because our staff "ISN'T LISTENING TO ANY OF THE COMMUNITY OMG".
TRIAL SR MOD.

And whatever thats au nothing compared to us.

Another thread about why MCGamer should revert to 1.7……

Seriously, think about all the little things that pile up into something you will notice AND complain about if MCGamer does revert, let's face it, the past, is the past. MCGamer is a lot smoother and a lot more efficient as a server, whoever wants to stay, stays.

That's not how it works at all. Essentially, any server running both 1.7 and 1.8 is just a 1.7 server with a modified protocol in order to allow connection of 1.8 clients. Since the server is technically 1.7, all the effects controlled server side is 1.7. Therefore, playing on 1.8 cannot be anything but a disadvantage, as a modified protocol is never 100% stable.

So no: having both does not please both 1.7 and 1.8 players; it only pleases 1.7 players.

First off 100 frames is more than enough to play minecraft. Don't know why you need 200 when it all looks the same.

I still don't know what's so bad about 1.8? Is it because block hitting was removed. Keep in mind block hitting was a glitch that wasn't even suppose to be part of the game. Mojang just took an extremely long time to fix it.

If you're lagging than it is either your computer or your internet. If it was really 1.8 then how come I haven't lagged once.

There is no simple 'go back to 1.7' you know that would screw everything up, it's so hard to back date a server. Custom plugins need to be re-written, tonnes of maps would need to be completely deleted, etc. You're silly if you think going 'back' to 1.7 is at all a plausible idea.

I think that it will take some time to go back to 1.7, and I think that we will not care how long it takes, because the most of us (About 90%) want MCGamer back as how it used to be. I also think that we will all wait for the time that MCGamer needs to get back to 1.7 and that we all would appreciate it very much.
Don't throw out statistics without any backup proof. That alone just threw your arguement off. (Not sure if that's the right way of putting it, but it works for me.) Looking at the poll that you put up, as of now only 66.2% of those who polled have an issue with 1.8, which is not as significant as your claimed 90%.
Also, don't speak for everyone in the community, because there is obviously people out there that do support 1.8, from both the poll numbers and the posts in the thread. Just some false statements I just had to point out.

As for my two cents for the argument, I don't believe that we should be downgrading, or doing a dual-protocol to allow in 1.7 clients, and for the same reasons people have posted in the thread. Col_StaR summed up the reasoning behind why it's unreasonable for the server to downgrade quite nicely, so I'd rather not repeat what he said, just go read his post.
As for the dual-protocol, I find what Evermore stated on that idea to be the best counter-argument. Doing the dual-protocol gives an unchangeable advantage for those on 1.7 over those who use 1.8, and advantages like that is something that shouldn't be involved in a gamemode like this. Simply put, I'm in support of 1.8, for all the reasons previously stated.

Quick Edit: Just wanted to say that your claim of "90%" could still be true, for this poll could have some bias within it. You could surely prove me wrong if you did a proper statistical study on this.

I am not speaking for everyone, But as far as I know, None of my friends Like 1.8 on MCGamer, and I've never, ever heard someone say that they like the fact that MCGamer is 1.8. In my eyes, the only people that support 1.8 are the staff members waiting for promotion. And also, 70% of the people that voted on this poll want 1.7 back because they dont like 1.8.
