The leaderboards in any game will always be about how much you play. Skill is certainly still involved to a large degree though. The issue with the current system in place is that the time needed to even compete to get to the top is absolutely absurd. It now takes more time than skill to reach it, and it shouldn't be that way.

I understand that you wasting 4 weeks would be frustrating. I'd be frustrated and annoyed also, but you'd have to take some of the good from it also. You became much more skilled through your trials, and you'd be entering the new leaderboard system with those skills earned, with the possibility that you could be the new #1.

Sean I understand your pros and negative list completely. I appreciate the opinions. I think instead of the upper staff shunning away the idea of MCSG being extremely competitive, they need to embrace it and provide the extra push for it, by supporting it completely. It's a crucial time, as no other servers have ever implemented something like this, and if they did it first, it could turn out for the better.

Also, this game mode I don't think was ever supposed to be truly casual in that sense of the term. It's a pure FFA gamemode where the objective is the be the last one standing, one life only. It's the "perfect" game mode for competitive play, and there's no way around that opinion and stigma set on it.
Due to gamers book of world records I have been told that the leaderboards will not reset for the respect of the maker of the book.

I also didnt quite understand what the top players got could you tell me sorry :p

While personally, I don't skip school to play MCSG, I understand what you mean about people like Gravey4rd, to be perfectly honest, he's the ONLY person ever in the history of MCSG to put this much time and effort into the game because he has so much time. Look at the other top players, Blamph, sixzo, Tomahawk even. They put equal amounts of time into the game (or at least that's what it looks like). But now we have Grave sitting on #1 saying if someone gets FOUR HUNDRED wins behind him, he'll tryhard to 4,000. Like, geez. I was watching an old Blamph video where he was playing on SG2 with Six and they were in a competition for #1. Sadly, there is no "I'm coming for your rank" anymore in the top 25. Because the margins between players on the leaderboards now a days are as follows:
Grave-darkrai: 437 wins... now that's a lot of time you have to play to get 400 wins, and unless Grave quits for a month and a half, Nick has no chance.

Darkrai-Gears: 98 wins

Gears-Logan: 98 wins

Logan-NotSoNoahSailer: 38 wins

NotSoNoahSailer-Brandon: 9 wins

Brandon-reven: 25 wins

reven-HugBabyBear: 8 wins

HugBabyBear-teki: 16 wins

teki-Huahwi: 36 wins

Huahwi-Edog: 67 wins

Edog-DevilicCrafter: 16 wins

DevilicCrafter-Joethepro: 100 wins

Joethepro-Gesuto: 130 wins

Gesuto-HotDoge: 89 wins

HotDoge-StigJam: 110 wins

StigJam-Spellcaster: 4 wins

Spellcaster-LiquidWater: 31 wins

LiquidWater-Araxed: 106 wins

Araxed-knowledgeguy: 86 wins

knowledgeguy-juzzyy: 36 wins

juzzyy-MLGMajestic: 75 wins

MLGMajestic-Smash: 69 wins

Smash-Robert: 11 wins

While those are some weird ranges of numbers... doesn't it go to show how hard it is to rise up the leaderboards now a days..?
Yes Im on the list :p

Not as I see it. It made mcsg even bigger did it not? The thing is I put time into this when I was younger and I love to look back on thoughs days when I didnt get into trouble with the cops and mcsg is oddly one of those places I see that

EDIT: I also see many people leaving for a reset

Well of course it made it bigger, I was being more sarcastic as I support the reset and monthly/weekly leaderboards and such, IMO it's more of a double edged sword.

I agree with you, to a point. Shanrrbananrr didn't have the same PvP skills and smarts as many top players, but her sheer amount of games got her into the top 25 with only slightly better than a 1 in 6 win loss ratio.

As for the rest of the leaderboard debate, chasing #1 in almost any major game is rarely worth it. There's always someone with more time and more skill, and if gravey4rd's willing to devote his life to this game, I don't really care.
Plot twist: she didn't win her games, someone (whom I will not name) won them for her.

I would give her credit for probably less than 600. I know she won her first like 400 then.. Yeah...
