This is an outstanding idea. I'm in complete agreement, but the only problem is that the idea of monthly and weekly leaderboards has been suggested multiple times before and rejected by staff.

Luckily, the way you brought this upon us with such detail gives it a much better chance of succeeding. The trick is, this has to come with something else. Keep in mind, MCSG V2 has been out for almost twice as long as any previous development version of the game. What if MCSG were to have a total revamp?

What if everything v2 and previously was to be preserved in an archive on this website or another as open records for anyone else to look at, but then the whole game were to be revolutionized.

With MCSG v3 would come new leaderboards, a whole entirely new interface, a NEW lobby (not a revamped old one maybe except for FyreGames lobby, that was fantastic), an utter stats reset that included monthly and weekly leaderboards to track players progress and give future new players incentive to shoot for the leaderboards, as well as eternal leaderboards just like the ones we have now.

In my opinion also, I really feel as if the leaderboard leaders as do now just have tooooo many wins. A revamp would somewhat bring everything down to a reasonable amount. The community would hit a reset almost. It would almost be the opening of a new server. Think about all the people that would come back, and new people this would attract!

Personally, I am in complete agreement with this idea, but I'd like to see a possible revamp of the interface as well.

(I feel accomplished as to the fact I wrote this on my phone :p)

I call for an in-game poll to get the non-forum community in on this. Also I would like to thank Blamph for bringing this up, it was superbly written and structured.
If there were an ingame poll, no one would read this very detailed thread on how it would work. Thus, the ingame players would be voting without any background knowledge.

People play 6-8 hours a day and skip school to play MCSG. If more leaderboards were created I could imagine all the tryhards.

Also, the leaderboards are impossible to climb to #1 anyway, after I realised Gravey4rd is willing to spend any amount of time possible to get wins I gave up, lol.

Idea has some pros and cons, if it were to happen I'd finally have a reason to leave MCSG. c:
While personally, I don't skip school to play MCSG, I understand what you mean about people like Gravey4rd, to be perfectly honest, he's the ONLY person ever in the history of MCSG to put this much time and effort into the game because he has so much time. Look at the other top players, Blamph, sixzo, Tomahawk even. They put equal amounts of time into the game (or at least that's what it looks like). But now we have Grave sitting on #1 saying if someone gets FOUR HUNDRED wins behind him, he'll tryhard to 4,000. Like, geez. I was watching an old Blamph video where he was playing on SG2 with Six and they were in a competition for #1. Sadly, there is no "I'm coming for your rank" anymore in the top 25. Because the margins between players on the leaderboards now a days are as follows:
Grave-darkrai: 437 wins... now that's a lot of time you have to play to get 400 wins, and unless Grave quits for a month and a half, Nick has no chance.

Darkrai-Gears: 98 wins

Gears-Logan: 98 wins

Logan-NotSoNoahSailer: 38 wins

NotSoNoahSailer-Brandon: 9 wins

Brandon-reven: 25 wins

reven-HugBabyBear: 8 wins

HugBabyBear-teki: 16 wins

teki-Huahwi: 36 wins

Huahwi-Edog: 67 wins

Edog-DevilicCrafter: 16 wins

DevilicCrafter-Joethepro: 100 wins

Joethepro-Gesuto: 130 wins

Gesuto-HotDoge: 89 wins

HotDoge-StigJam: 110 wins

StigJam-Spellcaster: 4 wins

Spellcaster-LiquidWater: 31 wins

LiquidWater-Araxed: 106 wins

Araxed-knowledgeguy: 86 wins

knowledgeguy-juzzyy: 36 wins

juzzyy-MLGMajestic: 75 wins

MLGMajestic-Smash: 69 wins

Smash-Robert: 11 wins

While those are some weird ranges of numbers... doesn't it go to show how hard it is to rise up the leaderboards now a days..?

This legitimately scares me because I have been playing MCSG since August 2012. I have played constantly since then (given my first nine months I was an absolute noob) and I have only accumulated ~470 wins on combined accounts. Given I've never really tryharded, but still. Let's say this. My MCSG ratio since the release of v2 combined is about 470/1860. All my irl friends consider me a person who plays a good amount of MCSG and jokingly call me the nolife because I have finally surpassed one of them in games played, but still! I've put a considerable amount of time into MCSG, and have only played ~2900 games. There are people like Huahwi who have been playing since July 2013 (less than half my time) and have double the games played as me! It's incomprehensible..

You have to be extremely smart in order to win that much. You can't just play all day and expect wins to come like that.

I agree with you, to a point. Shanrrbananrr didn't have the same PvP skills and smarts as many top players, but her sheer amount of games got her into the top 25 with only slightly better than a 1 in 6 win loss ratio.

As for the rest of the leaderboard debate, chasing #1 in almost any major game is rarely worth it. There's always someone with more time and more skill, and if gravey4rd's willing to devote his life to this game, I don't really care.

I actually disagree with the V3 idea just for the fact of that MCSG is a little unstable at the moment, with hackers and little bugs that need to be fixed. Then I would agree if there was a solution to the hacker problem because new leaderboards will make a huge rise of hackers join the community for a race to first place and it would just be an apocalypse in the SG servers; I appreciate your effort and detail put in this thread because you actually have a great idea and point!

Well I never said you don't have to be smart, you do. But unless you can win 70%+ of your games, you'll have to play a lot, and I was simply making a comparison to my games played, and I would consider myself someone who plays a lot.

I frown upon this for some reason for the same reason I frown upon the leaderboards of SG Classic and Quarter Quell. Imagine if the leaderboards were reset right now. Now picture everyone on the front page of the leaderboards, random kids you've never even heard of who have won 51/60 games? I just don't like the idea of people with insanely high ratios because it is dishonest. When the first leaderboard reset occurred, it was okay because everyone knew very little about the game. But now we have players capable of winning 85% of their games. I think your statistics should reflect who you have been throughout your whole career. That means I should have my 7% win ratio, and I am content with that, because it's what I deserve. If I were to start fresh, I could probably get a 15% win ratio, but that seems wrong to me.

It's like if the government suddenly went into your bank account, and everyone else's, and regardless of your debts and savings changed it so everyone had $1,000.

Am I the only one who thinks there is something wrong with this whole idea? I want my statistics to go way back to the beginning, when I rejoiced if I managed to get an iron sword. If someone has 3,000 wins, good for them! They earned every single one of them.

You can add weekly, monthly, and yearly leaderboards, but at least keep the eternal ones going as well, please.
