Nice! I'd say go for it if you are qualified. Just make sure you are learning Java and not Java Script! Also make sure you like doing it too.

Right now I am learning C++. I learned a lot of Java a couple years ago but I have moved to C++ because I can be an intern while I learn it.

I've never really used Java. :/
I actually code with a program called RobotC and uses a C++ style to program robots that I build, and create autonomous actions. Really fun to use for personal projects.
