Make Fence/Eating Glitch Againist the Rules.

I just want to start out by saying I know its part of Minecraft I have that grasped. But, it is in your rules:

9. Do not exploit bugs or glitches: We want to the servers to be the best that it can be and if a bug or glitch is spotted, report it to staff privately ASAP.

Example:

1. Block glitching
2. Breaking boats as a spectator
3. Leaving the map

• Using a bug or glitch to your advantage is not allowed.
• Refusing to tell staff about a bug or glitch is not allowed.
• Spreading the information about a bug or glitch to non-staff is not allowed.
• No block glitching, or using the block lag glitch to get out of the lobby, or break a block to climb/reach to a place you cannot get to by jumping/normal means.
• Breaking boats as a spectator is considered exploiting a bug
• Escaping maps/lobbies due to an error in a map is considered exploitation and will result in immediate kicking from the server.

I have asked mods why does MCSG allow this? Some were helpful. Some were just defensive about the entire thing. They commonly said though because it doesn't give an edge to any player. That could not be further from the truth. Not everyone uses it because not everyone knows of it which creates an unfriendly new players environment. Also, why should anyone have to learn a glitch to SG to have that same advantage just seems absurd. Anyone can break boats as spectators as well but it also, is against the rules.

I think that if MCSG is going to kick/ban for using glitches/exploits that they should not pick a choose what a few think are 'fair' and stand by the rules you have in place or change them. Or at least explain a better explanation other than "It's fair because everyone can use it." Because that is simply not the case.

This has been said by moderators multiple times, so one of them might as well lock this thread.

A mod told me to post this here. And besides that is a glitch. Its against the rules regardless.

And there is nothing really to prevent this... besides removing all the fences from maps.

They could do what they do with block glitching. Kick someone caught using it. I mean at least players would not use it as much then

In my own personal opinion about the said fence glitch I do think that it should be a kickable/ bannable offense. Like Benglaas has said new players just coming into MCSG will not know the glitch and see someone do it and think that the environment is not a moniterd place for cheaters and such. So I do think that this glitch should be kickable if used PERIOD.

We treat block glitching differently for two reasons. Because it is not a minecraft bug, and because it disrupts the balance of maps. Say there is a very powerful chest located behind a very difficult challenge. This is balanced because, while some get a major boost after getting the chest, most would die trying. Say block glitching allows anyone to bypass the challenge, sure, everyone can do it, but it ruins the balance of the map. Because of this, we would either have to remove/edit the map, or punish those who use the glitch.

Punishment allows more creative map design without having to worry about people bypassing it, and ultimately makes the job of makemaker (and the job of map committee member) much easier. Because of this, we get better, more robust maps.

Agreed with both your points. But, do you not agree that this current glitch gives players in anyway?

Fishing rod trick is more related to pvp rather then exploiting and endless running glitch. I would say the would learn that if they put forth effort but, its not like everyone uses this fence glitch. This is a newer exploit half the people who just see it think of it as hacking.

This glitch IS allowed, as Dave say's right here It was also explaned LOTS on This thread I see no point in further explanation.
