Well, if someone murders someone and the friend destroys the evidence a month later, should they get away with it?
If someone murders someone the POLICE (Mods) Take the evidence the victim is not the holder of that evidence. So, in my oppinion the staff should either cache the evidence or find a way to not rely on someone elses youtube channel.

Thread locked due to flame and arguing. Further discussion regarding removing evidence can be found on a new thread that should be up within the hour.

EDIT: Thread unlocked for FRIENDLY discussion.
lol what? You locked a thread because there are 10+ pages of people saying "sign me up" and for just a few replies to a moderator? *sigh* Moderators these days.......

I wanted to come out there and say why deleting the evidence is a rule which I believe should stay in place.

1. If you delete the evidence, and the person that was banned disputes their ban, what evidence do we have to say that they were rightfully banned? None. That player is unbanned, then there is more hackers on this server, which is bad for everyone.

2. Going along with the above point, you could be deleting that evidence in order to help somebody out by getting them unbanned. If you were to destroy the evidence of a murder, would you just be let off the hook? No. You wouldn't.

Those are the reasons I think this should stay in place. I do know that there are pros + cons for everything, but in this situation I believe the pros of the punishment out-weigh the cons.
Removing Evidence Should Remain A Bannable Offense

  • Removing evidence allows for people to be unbanned from the server. When people are unbanned, they will get back onto the servers and continue breaking the rules. More hackers, more abusers, more flame. Bad idea.
  • As an admin once stated: Let's say someone murders someone else. A close friend or family member of the killer destroys evidence. The killer and the person who destroyed the evidence are going to be in trouble. We don't want people getting away with breaking the rules.
  • It clearly stats in many places of the forums that removing evidence will result in a permanent removal from the community. If we have it stated in many places, why do people do it?
  • Removing evidence isn't possible with chat offenses because most moderators reupload the evidence, therefore players would only be banned for hacking offenses. As hacking offenses are pretty serious, most people would be banned for an extended period of time anyways.
I shall quote what I said on page 3:
There should be no punishment. Its the staff's job to tell the players not to delete the evidence. Who would want to keep a 7 month old evidence just in case that person decides to post a ban dispute (its happened, the person waited 7 months). If they are so worried about having evidence, then some sort of backup of the evidence should be made. The moderator who bans the player, should make a backup of the evidence.
Why would anyone want to purposly team up with someone, get him banned, later remove evidence and then the other person posts a ban dispute to get unbanned? This is illogical. Every removal of evidence is done because they feel that it is no longer needed, not because they want to help someone get unbanned (unless they are somehow persuaded to remove the evidence....)

Why should posting a report abuse have included a risk of getting banned? This just discourages people to report players, for fear they might get banned. The community is meant to help catch hackers and get a pat on the back, not a warning "You will get banned if you remove the evidence."
Who the heck in the right mind would want to help a person THEY got banned? In a murder case, as you staff members like to compare it to, the person who destroys evidence is often the person who wants to protect the real criminal and is done by a person who did not report said person to the police.
Your arguement is invaild.

Can't sign up as I have a pending Mod app, however I hope that both the staff and the players can come to an agreement in the near future. I wish the best of luck to anybody affected by this rule. :)
