Heyo,
So, not long ago, there were a few threads all to do with online dating and long distance relationships, things like that. I wanted to know what you guys think about the idea as a whole. I welcome all kinds of opinions as long as vindicate it, and not by calling other people 'stupid' or 'no lifes' just because you don't like the view point they have, I'd like to think most people here are mature enough to respect that. I like discussing things like this, so I hope we can get some good outlooks in here.
Here's what I think:
I do think that online dating is an acceptable thing nowadays. Our generation has become very dependant on electronics and the internet which has led to us doing many things online. Whether you would like to admit it or not, it's fairly obvious the chances are quite high that you could meet someone with similar interests to you on the internet. I'm not saying it's harder to find someone compatible with you IRL at all, there are so many variables. Though I can say, with a degree of certainty, that meeting someone who matches you is very plausible with the masses of people the browse the web.
Shy people - There are many people like me who are very shy in real life. The internet could be their escape from the anxiety which consumes them in actual social interactions. To a certain extent, you can become a different person here.
People with insecurities - Again, like me, there are people who are insecure about their looks. Sure, I've gotten better, but when talking to any girl I have a remote attraction to IRL the only thing that runs through my head is what they might think of me, in terms of how I look, how I sound, and how I interact with them.
No, I have never asked anyone out IRL or over the internet, I'm way too shy for either.
I was going to shove an anecdote in here but it's a little personal and I can't see anyone wanting to hear it. xD Anyway, happy posting!
