Hello Tributes,

Livestreaming has exploded in popularity as of late, with Minecraft channels consistently drawing one of the largest viewer base on twitch.tv. While some detractors believed that Livestreaming was inferior to traditional Youtube video making (“It’s just a video but improvised and unedited! That’ll never last”), the performance of live gaming has drawn its own appeal, style, and audience. Livestreaming has grown in popularity alongside Youtube videos, and the demand for Livestream VIPs became too much to ignore. Over the past several weeks, the MCGamer staff has been researching livestreaming from Twitch.tv in particular to understand its systems, audience, and content creators.

After much anticipation and many requests, we are pleased to announce that MCGamer will now be accepting VIP ranks for popular Twitch.tv livestreamers.
In addition to this, a number of changes and notes have been made regarding our existing Youtube VIP application process as well.
Lastly, if you have applied for Youtube VIP between the dates of July 1st and August 22nd, there is an important notice for you at the bottom of this post.

Twitch.tv VIP Applications!

Applications will be processed very similarly to Youtube VIPs. In order to be considered for a Twitch.tv VIP rank, you must meet the application requirements, and then fill out the application. Do note that due to the masses of applications submitted, processing your application may take between a few days to one full month. Please be patient, and we will process your Twitch.tv application as soon as we are able to.

Requirements for Twitch.tv VIP:
  • You must be the legitimate owner of the Twitch.tv account.
  • A significant amount of MCGamer content. The content must be shown in its own dedicated livestreaming session.
  • A regular broadcasting schedule for MCGamer content. We encourage one livestream every two weeks.

  • Livestream channels must post previous livestreams on its account

  • Follower Count: 1000 followers

  • Average concurrent viewership: 2000 people.

  • You must have good standing with the community, and have no major bans or offences on your account.
Do note that Twitch.tv VIP applications may be subject to change without notice. As the applications progress, we'll get a better feel for what changes need to be made, if any.

Youtube VIP Application Revisions

The Youtube VIP Application has been very successful with granting rank VIP to successful channels. However, due to the sheer number of applicants paired with the expected the increased number of applications due to the Twitch.tv application, the decision has been made to revise the Youtube application process. The channel requirements have been updated, and a few changes have been made to the actual application process.

Current Youtube VIP Requirements (Changes are shown with italics):
  • You must be the legitimate owner of the Youtube channel.
  • The channel must regularly host a decent amount of MCGamer content. The content should be prominent enough that it is a noticeable attraction to the channel.
  • The channel must have a minimum of 20,000 subscribers, but 25,000 is strongly suggested in order to be competitive.
  • Average concurrent viewership: 3000 viewers per video.
  • You must have good standing with the community, and have no major bans or offenses on your account.
In addition, account confirmation messages are now to be sent to the MCGamer Youtube account. The application instructions have been updated to reflect this.

Lastly, users may be permanently prohibited from applying for either Twitch.tv or Youtube VIP upon the administration’s discretion. Users who repeatedly bypass the specified wait period, users who complete spam applications, users who attempt deception (e.g. lying about your subscriber numbers, claiming a channel you do not own is yours, etc.), and users who repeatedly post applications despite unchanging circumstances for denial (being denied for past bans but repeatedly applying anyways) will be prohibited from applying in the future. Should applications continue despite clear prohibition, we reserve the right to proceed with further punishment. It’s a needless frustration that wastes everyone’s time, including those of serious applicants.

If you have applied for Youtube VIP between the dates of July 1st and August 22nd, please read!

It was brought to our attention that Youtube had changed their email notification system without informing us (just like Youtube, amirite?). As such, the Youtube messages required to complete Youtube VIP applications were not actually forwarded to the inbox which they were supposed to be delivered to. As such, we were not able to process any Youtube VIP applications during that time. The process has been rectified for future applications, but we are unable to process the previous ones.

For this reason, if you applied for Youtube VIP between the dates of July 1st and August 22nd, you are asked to reapply. Do note that you will be subject to the new requirements. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you applied between August 23rd and Now, August 29th, your application has likely been received and processed already. These applications were subject to the previous requirements because your applications were processed after the system was repaired, but before this announcement could be made. Check your email accounts for the verdict!

This is a good idea. A great way to give people a better chance of getting VIP.

VIP is going to become more common now...It's not going to be as special.
