Hey Col_StaR,
I recently got back into livestreaming, and I got ~100+ followers within the last week. (~130 to ~236, and still climbing.)

I understand the Follower Count, but I have a question about the "Average concurrent viewership" of 2000 viewers.

Just looking at popular Minecraft streams on Twitch, the numbers seem to be a bit unclear.
I clicked on a few MC livestreams, and looked for one with about 1,000 followers. Here's their current stats:

Nearly 1000 followers, but less than 30 viewers.

Next, I looked at a livestream with over 2000 current viewers:

The two requirements for Twitch VIP are completely baffling my sense of logic... would you be able to elaborate further?

My best guess is this:
An average of 2,000 new channel views per livestream, rather than 2,000 viewers at any given point in the stream.
^^ However, I'm not at all sure if that's correct or not.

;-; halp. moo is confuuzzled.

Also, here's my current channel stats:

I just finished a livestream to go forum a bit and eat lunch, but I was getting a steady ~15 viewers for about an hour. Two days ago, I hit 30.

No worries, Mooclan, you're going to reach a VIP worthy stage of Twitch one day! I'll be a supporter for you!
Also, I would think it did state "Concurrent 2000 views", it could probably mean it would be an average 2000 views in your streams, that could be pretty difficult to achieve, however I know you'll get there one day! :3

That's mostly right. We can't be there to watch every stream a person does, so we can't be expected to constantly watch someone's stream to make sure they aren't dropping below 2000 viewers at any point in time.

What we basically do is take the number of total channel views, then divide that by the total number of livestreams they've done (or as many as we can see). If that's above 2000, then they meet the average concurrent viewership requirement.

That being said, we've kind of steered away from that as of recently. We haven't actually gotten too many Twitch VIP applicants as were were expecting (apparently the Youtube market is much more saturated than the Livestreaming market is. Something to consider, hint hint), so we are able to be more precise with tracking the requirements. As such, for any applicant who has potential, we usually just have an Admin or Sr. Staff member watch for when they're streaming, watch the stream, and see what kind of numbers he/she brings in at peak. If it's close to the 2000 mark, it's good enough for us.

What do you mean by this? To have over 2000 people watching per every stream?
In total, yes. At one time? No.

For example:

You're livestreaming on MCSG.
You have 3,634 followers on Twitch (random number)
Right now, you have 81 viewers (again, it's a random number)
Over the course of the entire stream (many streams go from 1-5 hours) you gain 2000 total viewers

Long story short, this number goes up by 2,000 (or more) per stream:

Hello. A few months ago my application was denied because my channel had no MC Gamer content. I'm not a lets player so I can't record gameplays on MC Gamer but still I'm playing on the server. I upload Minecraft machinimas only. Isn't there a way to get that VIP rank without recording on the server?

Usually, you will have to upload videos on MCGamer (that is an active series) in order to provide VIP. We cannot provide VIP to those who have not uploaded MCGamer content because it would basically be giving a rank to someone famous who hasn't promoted the server.
If you have any questions, feel free to DM a staff member. Necro-posting a thread isn't the best method. :c
Anywho, hopefully, that answers your question! <3
I will now request a thread lock

Since the thread was necro'ed, I will be locking this thread now. However, the advice that Miner9823 did give above is very accurate. :)
