Its not the end of the world playing in 1.7, and its only 3% who have to make this change. No optifine for potentially a few more weeks/months won't make MCSG unplayable. I say go with getting rid of 1.6.4 connection.

In 1.7.4 i drop from 60+ FPS from 1.6.4/1.6.2 to 20- FPS in 1.7.4/1.7.2! Pls dont't just allow 1.7.4/1.7.2... Some people in 1.7 have lag issues. I have lag in 1.7 I drop to 20- FPS and i cant play in 1.7 well without OptiFine. Don't Update until OptiFine for 1.7 is released. Until then still allow 1.6 Support & 1.7 Supoort.

I had 60 FPS WITH Optifine in 1.6, and now in 1.7 I never go lower than 120. I run faster in 1.6 without optifine aswell. Might just be my computer

Have you tried 1.7 yet? There's a lot of performance improvements that make it work better than vanilla 1.6. Obviously OptiFine will still work better, but 1.7 may work fine for you.

I lag more with Optifine. I think I have a potato computer

I believe that a petition would be a great idea as Lucidictive said.
Also, I personally feel that the majority of the people that use 1.7 usually frustrated by the lag it gives them but use it anyway just so they get access to the sprint key feature. I know a lot of people who switched to 1.7 just because of the massive disadvantage they had because of being in 1.6 so that may be a primary factor in 1.7 being the more popular version.

With the dropping of the 1.6, I believe it is a bad idea as I can not use 1.7 in a stable condition with fps. I prefer the 1.6 as I am able to use optifine to solve these problems. I cannot afford any other computer to help me with this, so I would appreciate you guys keeping it. I also believe that I'm not the only person with this problem...
