Anti-Cheat & How Inaccurate It Is

Kinda makes me scared to play, I have a platinum account that I have used for quite a long time now on MCSG and why would I risk it getting banned just because I want to play some SG? Also, it doesn't seem too much like the staff are super-understanding with these problems, most of the people I know who tried to appeal about the no-cheat banning them simply received the response "The No-Cheat never messes up ever". I think it'd be best if the staff were a little bit more co-operative with the community here, as a response such as this and then locking a ban dispute thread is probably the most frustrating and least supportive thing a staff member can do. Just because a player is a staff member doesn't make them smarter, better, more mature, or more responsible than any other player and I can assure you if a moderator was banned while playing by the no-cheat they most definitely wouldn't get the response "the no-cheat never messes up ever" in their dispute.

An example of what I mean. Moderators seem far too confident in this anti-cheat. It's not the community that doesn't understand nobody's perfect, it's the staff team that is trying to tell us that their obviously glitchy anti-cheat is perfect.

Another example of a moderator being overly cocky about this clearly imperfect system of preventing cheaters. The community understands that nothing can be perfect, but the what the major problem is that it doesn't seem as though the moderators are responding appropriately to this.

Also, if you haven't noticed, neither of the statements make grammatically correct statements whatsoever. Just enforces my statement above describing moderators as being no better than normal members of the community.

Archybot canceled Judgment Day v4 because of an edge case resulting in false positives that would impact less than 1% of detected users (10 out of 1385 detected at max). He allows around 1375 hackers to roam on his servers, just so the miniscule amount of innocents would not be wrongfully convicted. As Archybot puts it, "I refuse to possibly ban innocent players."

Apparently MCGamer staff do not share the same philosophy. It seems like MCGamer is saying "Okay we know our Anti Cheat has false positives, but since it's banning hackers too, we'll keep it. If you are banned unfairly, maybe you'll get unbanned when you post a dispute."

Unfortunately, I would have to agree with Badlion's philosophy in this case.

This will probably be heavily opposed as an opinion, but with all the false positives caused by the Anti Cheat, it is at a point where a heap of good players were banned because the same thing happened to them as to what happened to Kronsity.
(Incoming Controversial Statement)
I propose that the Anti-Cheat should only give kicks and moderate bans, but make it so it detects the people with the most XAC detections and have them closely monitored. Sure it may prevent a number of hackers being banned, but it will prevent the number of us players who don't hack from being banned.

(I don't intend to cause ANY flame on this thread)
Why dont you guys make it a 7 day ban instead of a perm because of the possiblity it could make a false ban.
All good ideas and good points. I think temporary bans could be effective as well, just not quite as effective. the way our system works right now is that the few people that claim that they were banned unfairly are monitored, discussed amongst the Sr. Staff, and dealt with accordingly whether that's upholding or pardoning their punishment. The other far majority of players that are accurately banned by the anticheat never become a problem again. They aren't able to figure out based off the bans what hacks work and what hacks don't. If you've been playing on the server quite a lot, you'll realize that there's two types of anticheat bans. One lasts 60 seconds and the other lasts forever. The 60 second bans not only are less accurate, but they are quickly figured out. A player will realize that when they turn on a certain mod, they get temporarily banned. Therefore, they use every other mod to avoid the trigger.

Ok...sorry...I didn't look through every post. I don't really have the time. Can we not take it out while its being worked on? Im not trying to fight here but if you where taking calls for a business and one guy called and asked a question then another one called and asked the same question would you just say "have I not said this several times"? Seems kinda unprofessional to me.

Bet im gonna get banned for this. If I was to go for this I guess I would get to say I was banned for speaking my opinion and asking questions while backing up other unhappy members of the community.
Lol, you're not gonna get banned for saying that xD I only asked if you had seen where I said there was going to be improvements because it was in the post that you quoted :p

If it is being worked on, why not remove it until you are 100% sure it is accurate?
The way I see it is similar to medicine development when discovering new therapies for different diseases.

Phase 1 involves 20-100 healthy individuals using the medicine to see if it causes any negative outcomes.

Phase 2 involves around the same amount of people that have the disease seeing if they are effected by the medicine in a positive way.

Phase 3 increases the population size of phase 2.

Finally, phase 4 is the drug released to the public after its given an over 90% success rate (which our anticheat has exceeded). It's closely monitored and side effects are discovered and addressed. The majority of people that use the medication become healthy again :) phase 4 can last for years and it's the last stage before a product is officially released in hospitals, in pharmacies etc. The entire time, the medicine is actively being improved upon so that it can help more people and be more effective. Luckily for us, the anticheat doesn't deal with something as serious as disease, but it can be viewed very similarly. Also, there's much more room for discovery as we do allow everyone that has been effected by it to appeal their ban and be heard amongst the Sr. Staff.

If you really think you got banned unfairly then make a ban dispute. If you already made a dispute, send me a forum message and Ill talk to you about it there.

And I've got 3 boxes of 5IV shiny Pokemon... Get on my level ;)

If someone was unfairly banned and posted a dispute. What is the probability that they will be unbanned?

i don't think it's fair to state a "probability" because it doesn't really work like that. Just be honest with us, tell us everything you can about what happened. If you think your story would be better explained on TS or a forum message, feel free to do that but post a dispute first because we have to go through that process before we talk to each person individually about their bans. :)
