I thought it would be fun for some of you who have not yet entered college to take a short test over some of the courses that I have taken in my past 1 and a 1/2 at college. In no way does this test signify your intelligence as these are courses specific to my major and my career (Biology). There might be a few (or a lot) of questions that you are completely unable to answer the question, but I thought this might provide insight on the most basic topics you might learn in college. These will be extremely simple questions one might learn at the beginning of each course. Try your best not to use Google. Let us begin:
1) What is the derivative of 5x^2 + 3x - 7?
2) What is the antiderivative of x?
3) Who is Zeus' wife in Greek mythology?
4) How many grams of oxygen are in 1.5 moles of oxygen(O)?
5) How many valence electrons are in Nitrogen?
6) What is the common name for this polyatomic molecule: SO4 with a -2 charge?
7) What is the acceleration due to gravity on earth?
8) What is the speed of light?
9) If you dropped a ball from a building 100 meters tall, how long would it take for the ball to hit the ground?
10) Which cell organelle is known as the "powerhouse" which provides energy for the organism?
11) If G (green eyes) is autosomal dominant and g is autosomal recessive (brown eyes), what is the probability that a child is born with green eyes if the parents are Gg and gg?
12) Approximately how old is the earth?
13) What is the probability of rolling a die three times and landing on 1 all three times?
14) What is the mean, median, range, and standard deviation of 11, 15, 12, 17, 17, 13?
15) Which atom is more electronegative: C, N, O, S, Br, F?
16) Which molecules are polar: H20, CH4, CO2, HCl?
17) What are the names of these compounds: CH4, CH3CH3, CH3CH2CH3?
18) How many U.S. senators are there in each state?
19) What are the three branches of the U.S. government?
20) What or who is the supreme law of the land in the U.S.?
21) What are the reactants and products of the photosynthesis reaction?

3) Hera
4) 24g Oxygen
5) 5
6) Sulfate
7) 9.81 m/s^2
8) 3.0 x 10^8 m/s
9) Approximately 4.52 seconds
10) mitochondria
11) 1/2
12) 5 billion years old
13) 1/216
14) mean: 14.17 median: 14 range: 6 standard dev: 2.34
15) Fluorine
16) H20 and HCl
17) methane, ethane, and propane
18) 2
19) executive, judicial, and legislative
20) U.S. Constitution
21) 6CO2 + 6H20 + energy(sunlight) ----> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Feel free to post how well you did (if you say 20/20, I will bombard you with harder questions that you will not be able to find on Google ). If you want to know how the correct answer is received for any particular question, please let me know.
