Hey I recently have been wanting to overclock my Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M and CPU @ 2.10 GHz. Iv watched a couple YouTube videos but I hear its abit risky if you haven't done it before. It can mess up your computer if you dont know what your doing. If you are experienced with overclocking and are willing to help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well, its risky. I would rather not do anything and leave it like that.

Don't overclock laptops. The heat will get the best of you. Like, your laptop will overheat really fast.

I have a cooling pad and play and hard surface. Is that ok?
Still, even in desktop computers it will overheat badly without good cooling. On my desktop I can't overclock due to me only having a stock CPU cooler.

You don't even get that much of a difference with overclocked processors, from what I've seen..

From what I've heard it quadruples your frame rate for games like BF4.

And Minecraft?
No idea. I might do a bit of research as one of my friends at school works in the IT department and built his own computer from almost nothing. The motherboard was the only thing he didn't modify/make better. He's got an overclocked CPU and is going to overclocked his GPU. So he might be able to help me help you. ;)

1st EDIT: I'm guessing you have a laptop that you use for gaming? Is it a notebook?
2nd EDIT: Also, what is your average frame-rate while playing MC/MCSG?
3rd EDIT:
Also also, my friend would highly recommend that you to download SpeedFan, a program for Windows which measures your fan speeds, battery, up-time, and even core temperatures. Once you've downloaded it and installed it, run it. You might get a UAC window asking for authorization to access your computer. Enter a password if you need to and then hit 'OK'. The program will run itself.
After it's loaded it will give you the temperatures for you GPU, Cores, etc. Keep it open, and run Minecraft. Play for quite a while on MCSG, and tell me how hot your temperatures get. I manually accelerated mine, but I don't recommend it since I'm not a professional programmer and now have to turn the laptop up-side-down to cool it after playing BF4 or HAWX. If I don't my computer just cuts out and won't let me turn it on for another hour or so. ;P

Wow thank you for all that info! Means alot that your trying to help!
My specs are:

Manufacturer: Acer
Model: Aspire V3-571
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz (Set to all gaming settings for better performance)
Installed Memory (RAM): 6GB (5.84 usable)
System Type: 64-Bit
Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch input is available for my display

I get around 25-50 FPS after running CCLEANER and restarting my computer then running razer game booster and having nothing open/running besides minecraft. My FPS changes on certain maps and is ever unstable as it goes form 25-50 all the time.

I also have a laptop cooling pad I also play on and play on a hard surface. If that would help overclocking. I will download that program you suggested tmr when I get on and play. Ill let you know how my computer did when im done!

Thanks again man means alot.

EDIT: After playing for about 15min this is what my temp was with the cooling pad under my computer: http://prntscr.com/2i6j03 is that good enough to overclock?
