I don't mean to triple-post, but...

  • The MCGamer administration swore that they would never return to 1.7, yet they did anyway. Somewhat unprofessional if you ask me.
  • Holiday Resort 2, Intertia, Green Grass, and Springfield SG will have to be revamped/removed due to the 1.8 blocks included.
  • Hackers galore - so many more clients will be available for anyone who wants to cheat on the network.
  • Invisible fire will likely be back.
  • The network is downgrading. Yep. DOWNGRADING. For an ever-evolving game, why would anyone ever want to downgrade? If anything, developers, I'd be working on figuring out how to include 1.9 elements into your gamemodes.
Just saying.

I believe you're mistaken. There were SEVERAL threads. I'll link a few:

Ok negative Nancy. We get it. But unfortunately for you, most people prefer 1.7 over 1.8.

This is random, and I don't even know if anyone here will know the answer. But does anyone know why the server numbers are so high these days? I get so confused when I'm playing with old friends and we have to blurt out "ayy join server 2494", when it used to be "ayy join server 1".

Also, I'd like to give credit to Maxypie for pointing out the original tweet to us for us to make the connections for this thread. (I'm sure plenty others did too but he gets credit here)

Wow, very interesting find.

V2 introduced dynamic servers, pretty much servers will turn on and off due to the demand of them. The long numbers, I don't even know.

It's so that when nobody is playing deadly descent and Survival games needs a server it can be like "Ay yo! Need some servers over here". It's hard to keep track of so it just makes up a number.

So the new system is called the dynamic system. Basically it saves them money because there aren't 200 servers open 24/7. So what it does is if a certain amount of servers are full it will randomly generate and open some more servers. And because it cant really track how many open servers there are, it just randomly gives it a number of 3 or 4 digits. Hope this answers your question :)

Notice how the more popular networks (Hypixel, etc) have upgraded to 1.8?
Notice how they're more popular?
New update = new features.
Imagine the admins as the owner of a dog.
The community is the dog.
The owner is supposed to walk the dog, and the dog is supposed to run alongside.
In our case, the dog is running faster than the owner, and instead of resisting, the owner is giving in.

((this is not a good thing))
