MCGamer are in the process of hiring more mods currently and a few got hired yesterday! The number of mods is fine though, and even if you're too young for mod, you can still do your bit by recording and reporting hackers. You don't need a red name to do that :3

The age limit shouldn't be lowered to 13, it's too young and 14 is fine. Though some 13 year olds are mature, the majority aren't quite as qualified as most 14 year olds would be, and for the more mature and qualified 13 year olds there's the age application process.
Instead of lowering the age and the general standard and average maturity level of the staff team with it, I think it would be more beneficial to encourage more people to apply for moderator.

I think the age limit right now is good as it is.

I think 14 is fine at the moment. Those who are 13 and very mature should simply apply for an age-exception where they can show off this maturity they have. Lowering the age requirement isn't really the silver bullet here, and it's probably best to keep to the "quality over quantity" motto for this situation.

However, I agree with the smaller amount of staff being a bit of an issue, but with summer (in the northern hemisphere) coming up, we should see a rise in applications, both successful and not!

Hi MCGC (MCGamer Community)
I believe that MCG needs more staff members, they are approximately 110+ staff members, most of them are mods. We need more admins, developers and sr.staff.
There are approx 600? servers on these servers, while there are 80 mods approximately, we need more. As it turns out CA is becoming popular because of "huawhi" so obliviously we need more mods on there too. No the staff don't have to drop their standard Col_StaR, they need to fix the age application thing, they need to make the age 13 (trust me) I think 13 year olds are perfect. They don't have as much hard exams, which can get more life. Now anything below the age 13 is unacceptable. So lower the age down, remove the age application app. Don't lower down your applications. We need developers, are developers are amazing but their aren't enough. We did get some from the ANTV merge, but some resigned too. Also we have 5 or less admins, with the lead admin resigning Dave :(
This is not a rant thread this is a way to help the server.
Good job on the cleensweep guys!
Just what we need, more quantity > quality?
Nirmit you crack me up.

I mean you could lower the age to 6 and if the 6 year old somehow wrote an amazing application and had a good interview and proved he belong then sure. I understand that not every 13 year old is mature and the immature ones that apply will just get declined and move on from it. However there can be some pretty reliable 13 years olds and if they deserve it then they deserve it. The only downside is all the immature 13 years will think hey i can get mod without an age exception now and they will go to apply and write 4 words for every question which will lead to the Sr.Staff wasting their time looking at these wasted mod applications.

And then we start hiring mods of less quality, then our staff team becomes worse. See my point? When I was 13, I thought I was mature, and I thought I could handle a staff position. Looking back, let's just say I was wrong.
lol. For me it's the total opposite. I was devoted to MCGamer back then, and knew the rules by heart, now I'm neither.

Anyway.

MCGamer has very high standards, so to say. To me, they're not high at all. MCGamer just looks for a pretty, well-written app, for eloquence and a polished attitude. Anyone can have this.
Who am I to say this anyway. Sounds biased since I never was a moderator.

You ask a lot for yourself, Nirmit. I want more moderators, more developers, a lower allowed age for applicants, you say. Do you think these people appear out of nowhere? There is always is a negative to a positive side, acknowledge that. If these players are illiterate, they won't get accepted, thus people age of 12 years old are not qualified at all.

MCGamer is pretty much asking for someone who has had basic education. School teaches the common core that is necessary for the essential professional skills and knowledge. If you are not illiterate, know how to properly write, speak and communicate yourself, then you're basically fit for this position. Moderating is just communicating with the players, understanding the servers standards they have under the players and punish those who go against these.
This covers why MCGamer doesn't accepts people lower than 13 years old. Because these players have yet not even finished basic education, Middle School.

As far as more moderators. Just by asking they won't come. Any player that has applied for moderator has done it to gain something in return. Whatever their ambitions may me, whether complex or not, everyone has wanted something off applying for moderator. In fact, if we still had friend rank, more people would apply: because they are obtaining something in ex-change. Now a days whenever you resign you just get nothing or donor —and anyone has access to donor, not special.

If MCGamer truly wanted more staff, they would give something in-exchange to these moderators. However, more to say, this is a Minecraft server. The income MCGamer gets from sponsors isn't that significant. It keeps the server alive, but it's barely enough; servers are expensive, and MCGamer has around 600 or so servers. All this being said means that, if MCGamer can't pay staff with money, then they should pay with something the server has that is important to other people —Friend rank or VIP.

Developers are the hardest. MCGamer just can't give the position to anyone. MCGamer can't take the risk to give the position and leave the developer on his free-will to next day see the servers are completely wiped. As I had stated, most players are around 12-15 years old. Most people don't know how to code, use java-script and such. Simply, you can't ask for things if they're not even available. People that know what they're doing don't apply daily for the developer position.
