Do we really need 1.8?

Ok, first of all, 1.8 is really broken, almost all of 1.8 has so many problems that most people will tell you. The texture pack are not supported, and especially for all of the people in clans. You realize most of the people in clans will probably quit because the PvP is really messed up. The rod and bow are deformed, really hard to use, the chunks do not load correctly, the FPS has gone down a lot for users. Why can't we just stick with 1.7? Everyone enjoys, why can't we just have 1.7 AND 1.8. To where then if you want to use 1.7 like a lot of people in clans and what not, and if people want to play with the broken 1.8, they can. Please just keep 1.7, a lot of stuff is broken that you mods and others may not see, but it really bothers a lot of people in clans. And I would like to say that the community is kind of based off more of clans and teams rather than just playing.

Okay, my only complain on 1.8 is: Why the heck is hitting people so hard?! Honestly, hitting people is pretty hard on 1.8 compared to 1.7.

By the way, another thread was locked for this reason so this thread will be locked too.

Yes, 1.8 is poorly optimized, but it does add new features such as being able to watch another player's perspective and optimized FPS, even though I find no difference in my frames between the two versions.

I don't know about you, but I think that being able to watch a player's POV would be interesting, especially if they were hacking. Every time a new version that comes out and MCG switches to said version, everyone complains. Of course, it will take a while (around a week or 2) for everyone to get accustomed to a new version, but nevertheless, I don't see nothing wrong.

I don't mind using 1.8, why should you?

Activate VBO on. It does help on Fps.

I never complain when 1.6 or 1.7 came out, but 1.8 is just plain bad.

Okay, I will answer all of your concerns about 1.8.

1. Most texture packs just aren't updated to 1.8 yet, once they are, all of the deformities within textures should be fixed.

2. Since blockhitting was removed, and it was removed from everybody, it will no longer be an unfair advantage, making the PVP actually more fair between players.

3. If you go to your video settings, and turn VBO's on, you'll get a better framerate. Your graphics card may not support it though, but this definitely does help, and gets me better framerate within 1.8 even than 1.7.

4. We're upgrading to 1.8 to be able to take advantage of all of the server side and client side features of the 1.8 client. This will help keep everybody more stable on the network, as well as add a lot of new features.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

1. Thanks for stating the obivous. However, this doesn't change the fact that when the community is forced to use 1.8, they aren't going to be able to use their resource packs for a while.

2. I don't see how it's more fair; if anything, PvP is still equally fair before and after the forced 1.8 usage. The issue is, this makes PvP less complex and involve less skill.

3. Cool. Too bad that setting only works for a few people with the necessary graphics card.

4. If you can name a feature that outways all the cons, and can only be implemented in 1.8, I'll accept this.

I used to use 1.8 a while ago for PvP, it was extremely hard to tell if I was even hitting someone. I doon't know if someone has stated this before, but when you are fighting somebody with armor, in 1.7, the whole body would flash red (including the armor), but now in 1.8, when you hit somebody in full armor, the skin inside of the armor only flashes red, and the armor stays the same.

this explains why I though I wasn't hitting my opponent. Though, I still don't understand why I find it harder to hit people.

I'm pretty sure I heard a rumor from Mojang stating that they did change the 'physics" of PvP, and the sword doesn't act like it does in 1.7 with slightly about 1/4 of a block decreased range. 1/4 of a block, it might not seem like a lot to casual players, but it will be easily noticeable for seasoned players.
