Please bring back percentage voting!

Do you think that percentage voting should be re-enabled?

BitoBain actually had suggested some things.

  • Square the number of votes then apply Raffle Voting, making it much heavier for larger numbers.
  • A map must have at least 10% of the votes to be considered for Raffle Voting.
  • Only the top two maps out of the five are considered for Raffle Voting.
  • After a map has not been played for five games, it automatically starts out in the lobby with a vote. If not for ten games, then it starts with two votes, etc.
  • Every time a map gets played, the chances of it showing up in the next few dozen games are decreased slightly.
  • Raffle Voting such that once twenty votes have been cast, any map with over 50% of the votes is automatically chosen. If there is no majority, regular Raffle Voting is applied.

I did enjoy percentage voting but what if a map got to a certain amount of votes, it must be played regardless of other votes.
Agreed.

Also, I remember when raffle voting was first introduced. People were shouting bring back the normal voting system. So we brought it back. Now you guys are screaming bring back the raffle system, and the staff are torn between which one to go for.

Adding on to Jaan's statement, I think raffle voting should be automatically enabled if more than one map crosses the "minimum number of votes.".

Let's say the minimum number of votes for raffle voting to be enabled was 10. If one map got to 10 votes or higher, it would automatically be selected. However, if no map got to 10 votes, it would be a completely random choice between all of the maps that had been voted for. If more than one of the maps has higher then 10, raffle voting will be enabled between the maps that have crossed 10 votes.

In my opinion, I loved the raffle system, it gave maps a chance to get played. I mean let's face it. Maps like Alaskan Village which are so popular right now wouldn't be played at all when they came out. If Valley Side was in the same voting list, almost everyone would vote for it. However the raffle voting system forced people to try a map. Even by people trolling. That's whats good about it, and it made new maps more popular than some of the old popular maps like Holiday Resort, SG 4, Valley Side University etc. I fear that people will just keep voting for the same old maps over and over again if we don't bring the raffle system back.

You have my vote.

It was removed due to popular demand, but I actually vote for it to be put back. I think they plan on redoing the voting system, anyways.

I love how everyone hated precentage voting at first
^^^^^^

I personally would like to see some form of this back, because I excel on maps that are underplayed due to the fact that I am successful at thinking on my feet for chest routes, and just playing mostly the same maps gets stale.

However, those maps (SG4, Holiday, Valleyside, etc.) aren't always in every lobby. If you see a map that you don't want to play, simply leave and find another game :)

Another thing I'd be ecstatic to see reimplemented is the skip function, or the random map option. I don't really know specifically why that was removed, but oh well.

I'd like to see how someone could implement that without either ticking off the players because donors force it, or ticking off donors for everyone voting for a skip when they want to get their map played. Kind of hard to do anything: keep the popular vote, people complain about maps that are spammed, but change it to raffling, and people complain about playing uncommon maps.

I would really like it if the raffle system was implemented again. It made SG much more interesting because there was a larger variety of maps rather than just an endless cycle of Breeze Island (when I was most active on the servers this was a really popular map) and SG4.

I like this version of it though c:
  • Raffle Voting such that once twenty votes have been cast, any map with over 50% of the votes is automatically chosen. If there is no majority, regular Raffle Voting is applied.

I want this raffle voting back aswell. I mean if there are 3 Plat donors everyone has to play the map, the donors picked.
Well ofc it's a perk but it's a bit op in my opinion.
The raffle voting was a fair deal.
Unfortunately, I voted for this non-raffle-voting type without thinking too much about it and also it was before the Platinum donors were added.

So *yes :p

Holy cow!
I made this thread last night right before I went to sleep and it's already taken off! Almost 50 votes total and 3 full pages of great discussion! Although some of you are a little confused about this percentage voting and what it actually does.
The percentage voting system was buggy.
#1 - Holiday Resort - 50 votes.
#2 - Survival Games Acident Japan - 1 vote.

Play Survival Games Acident Japan.
Ok dude, in this situation, assuming these are the only maps on the voting list with votes towards it in your lobby, we can figure out the likley hood of this map being selected. Now, if we divide 100 by 51 (100% total From all maps) we get, 1.96, so for holiday resort, it has a (1.96 x 50) = 98% chance of being selected for they map to play. Whilst sg japan with 1 vote (1,96 x 1) = 1.96, so SG japan has a 1.96% percent chance if being played, which is highly unlikely but still possible.

So addressing your statement of the "system was buggy", no it's not. This is how it works. Hope you understand now :D
Have a great day

I think that if raffle voting is added back in, it should be modified so that it is more convenient for donors and clans. Even though this poll currently states that over 80% of people want raffle voting back, similar numbers used to occur in the opposite direction back when raffle voting had just been added. The two best alterations of raffle voting to fix this would be:
  • As AGFire2013 mentioned above, if any map at the end of the lobby has 20 votes and a majority, it is chosen. Otherwise, it's regular raffle voting.
  • First map to twenty votes gets picked, otherwise it's raffle voting.
Both of these alternatives would satisfy big groups of donors, clans, and very competitive lobbies, but provide the grass donors with the raffle voting that they usually enjoy. I think either of these would effectively satisfy the two parties.

What do you think of those two alternatives?
