Just going to comment on this one aspect - it isn't "ripping people off" if they bought a stats reset, then we decide to do a global stats reset. With that logic, we're ripping people off if someone buys platinum for $100, then the next day we start a 25% off sale and platinum goes down to $75. As much as we sympathize with the people that happens to, nothing can be done about it - it's just inconvenient timing. Whether you like it or not, MCGamer is a business, and must be run like one for our network to survive. That means we can't just give refunds for those "inconvenient timing" scenarios; in the end, you still got what you paid for.
Running with the Inconvenient Timing statement, I had a metaphor occur to me just yesterday.
I decided to buy an SSD late two nights ago. I was deciding between the Samsung EVO series or the Samsung Pro series. The EVO series is the consumer-oriented SSD that is $15 cheaper than the Pro but also -13% slower. The Pro series is an enthusiast-oriented SSD that is 13% faster, but $15 more expensive. After much deliberation, I decided to save some money and go with the EVO series.
Only 12 hours later, I find out that the Pro series was on sale for the exact same price I bought the EVO SSD for. On top of that, because I had already been charged and the item shipped (Newegg is just that fast), I couldn't cancel the order. So I lost out on a better SSD for the same price, simply due to bad timing.
But you know what? It's unfortunate, but it's fair. No one was conspiring against me, no one stole money from my pocket. I simply made a choice independently, only to find out later that didn't make the optimal choice. That is simply life.
Chad and I talked about this, and we both agreed that anyone who purchased a stats reset did so on their own accord, and it's their decision. They chose to pay money and reset their rank whilst unaware of our plans, just as we drew up the plans for a global reset unaware that the user was going to buy a stats reset. They're separately-occurring events, and we have to treat them as such. Thus, no one's getting "ripped off by MCGamer" as much as they are accidentally fumbling into some bad timing. It's unfortunate, but it happens.
That being said, if the Stats Reset thing is approved, we would definitely give server-wide warnings in advance. People will know that the global reset is coming; if they buy a reset on their own accord even knowing that information, that's their fault. But hey, you can still save your stats reset even after the global reset, so purchasing then still has its purpose.
