What Do Americans Do On 9/11?

Hey Everyone!

Damn, it's been a long time since I wrote on the forums xD

So in England, during form time, our tutor showed us images of the event (9/11), but I was thinking, in America it must be different since it actually happened there.

So to all y'all Americans, what do you do on the day, I'd be curios to know the differences!​

Honestly not much. At least where I go to school, we watch a couple of re-cap videos of the event and take some time on our own to reflect.

Not much they just honer those on the plane and the people who help put the fire out like the fire fighters. Not like a whole holiday or something like that.

The stupid thing about 9/11 is that 3000 people die in wars and stuff and bombings on average every day, and the only reason 9/11 is so big is because it happened in home territory.

Yea that is kinda weird but also because the twin towers were very "Special" and them going down realy hit the souls americans. But i agree with you.

In some schools, they show a few clips and maybe make a small announcement. In some other schools closer to where it happened or in more patriotic regions, they hold an assembly, or maybe get their local military training regime to give a presentation.

Some families go further, and hold a family event in recognition, memory, and honor of those lost and affected by the events on 9/11/2001.

I have (well, had.) a friend who's grandmother worked within one of the Twin Towers when it happened, but she was apparently out on her lunch break when it happened, thankfully.

Flags (should) be lowered to half-mast, and there is a moment of silence (We do this in Canada atleast). An announcement is made and we take some time to reflect as a class. Not much special, we do more on Remembrance Day.

We don't really treat it as a holiday or anything special like that; maybe take a few minutes of silence but that's pretty much it. And flags to half mast as well.

If you were curious, Canada (or maybe just me) doesn't really do anything. It's mostly just something that people think about:

"Oh yeah, it's 9/11 today..."
