Should clans be removed or more strictly monitored?

People would make a big uproar if clans were removed, which is stupid. Just team with your friends and if you want a "Clan Battle" get more of your friends together and create two teams and fight each other.

Thanks for the insight.
Edit: Why no? Just want to hear your opinion that's all.
Clans are all that's fun in mcsg when the average player is much worse than you. It provides something competitive and enjoyable. Besides, getting rid of clans doesn't get rid of assholes. They're everywhere

This isn't true for all clans, some are more relaxed and less competitive. Unfortunately the drama and harassment does still happen as much outside of clan related issues

There we go! That's what I wanted, an opinion. Your points are pretty fair too. I realize that people like the competitive nature of clans, I just think they take it a little far. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Ideas are bulletproof.

By this I mean that you can not just remove the whole concept of clans with the click of a button. Removing clans as a forum section will not make them all disband at once. It will simply force clans to use a new medium for applications, rosters, results and possibly communication. Obviously, there could be a rule saying that "Clan wars are not allowed on MCGamer", but people could easily just say that they are a group of friends playing against each other, which would be a very hard point to prove wrong, without having to use evidence from any other websites or third party services like Skype and TeamSpeak. Yes, you could just reduce the team limits, or make a rule against teaming, but I'm not even gonna start that whole debate on this thread.

Anyway, in the end, what would come out of making an anti-clan rule, and removing the clan section on the
forums? A lot of angry people. Nothing else. It would not make clans disappear, which means that the disadvantages of having clans in the community would still be there, and the only group affected would be clan members, who would get mad about the whole case, possibly start flaming a bit, but most likely just move on, and use a new medium.

The survival server was taken down because people were taking it to seriously, and arguably worse things happen in the clan community for the same reason. Looking at it now, I guess it would make sense to get rid of clans for the same reason they get rid of survival.

This is a hard one, but overall I would say it is worth keeping. It does produce a lot of drama and abuse, but as stated before, not everyone is involved in this. It would be unfair to punish all of the nice and civil clans who are just in it for the fun because of a few bad eggs. However, similar to what duckluv321 said, I do believe there needs to be a crackdown on clans who consistently violate the terms and conditions.

I don't personally think clans should be flat out removed, but I think a small minority of competitive clan players need to consider changing their overall online persona/personality. On top of that, rules should be MUCH stricter once the official clan leaderboards are put up. Something baffling that I noticed that is always tied up with the word "competitive" is that people think it's hilariously great/funny to bash others. Competition isn't about humiliating your competitors, it's about challenging yourself to be the best all around person out there on the playing field.

The sad part is, I'm seeing certain players who think it's fine to act like complete assholes online to their peers, even acting awful to them simply because they were beat. Shouldn't that make you treat them with absolute respect? I can absolutely guarantee that the general majority of the guys who do indeed act like this are probably grossly socially awkward in real life situations. I find that it's usually those types that find the internet to be the perfect place for them to act like (what they think) their IRL peers or even bullies act like, but in a bit of a cooler form.. Which in reality isn't cool at all. They all don't realize that they are doing this over a Minecraft community. In what effed up world is it cool to bully and make fun of someone who enjoys the same hobby as you? It's just so mind boggling to me that people think they're being funny by being an asshole to others.

As for DDoSing, I won't go too deep into this. But I'd suggest to the teenagers who are doing this frequently, or at all, to stop. You're the worst kinds of people to me. I'm coming closer to graduating University and getting my bachelors in Computer Science, and have put MANY hours into coding and security testing/research, along with my CS peers and friends. We see skiddies who DDoS (or in some terms actually pay the real attackers to do it) and laugh, because your good ol' service provider will be sending a nice letter to your parents soon enough threatening to cut your service, and then doing so. Just don't do it, because eventually you will DoS someone who actually knows how to screw you over one thousand times worse.

My one thing would have to be, if clans were removed from the forums, it would be a lot harder for newer players to get into them. They would only find it if someone told them about it. I think this may reduce the amount of clans, which could help.
