I DID. HIS NAME WAS ROGER. HE WAS A DOG. ;_______________; I WAS ASLEEP AND HE FELL OUT OF THE CAR DOOR AT A GAS STATION WHEN MY MOM OPENED MY DOOR FOR SOME REASON.
DON'T #^@# AROUND WITH THEM TEDDY BEAR SOB STORIES M8
(I actually did lose my second favorite stuffed animal, Roger. He was indeed a Stuffed Dog. I also have several stories about nearly using the only stuffed animal I still sleep with after losing Roger, Sheepy. As you may guess, he is a sheep. And he's like 9 years old, and can make sushi, and fly, and.... he has...
interesting "super powers"... XD dont ask.)
Alrighty, well
Bamber rrr rrrr rrrrrr wanted a moo-post here so whoopdee-doo! (Or however you spell it.)
So I'm going to draw upon some sources and previous examples, and this post will be, as usual, based around my
opinion. Please try your best not to take offense, and if something can be interpreted two ways, pick the way that is least offensive. (I might link some websites. If I do, you'll probably see the hyperlink thingies.)
First,
what is depression?
An intense feeling of sadness, which can affect you in your every-day life. "
...including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless

So, (in your mind) raise your hand and say "I" if you think you may have experienced 3 or more of these (from the first screenshot) at once. You might have a minor case of depression. It's not as bad, but still horrible. According to the DSM-IV thingy, if you have 5+, you depressssedddd sonnnn. (bad joke? bad joke.)
Okay, now that we have that out of the way, let's move onnnn >>>>>
Oh wait, something to say before we go on.
So before anyone goes off on me and says, "bro, you ain't got no idea what depression is like mayne!" I just want to say - Uh, yeah. I do. I had it for at least four months in early 2013 and it may have started before that, in mid to late 2012, when I was having a lot of family conflicts, and I "
may or may not have" *cough cough* attempted suicide four times. (
I think it's a crime so I'm not supposed to say that I have, if I have. I will deny this in court as long as I am not under oath, and even if I am you won't be able to tell if I'm telling the truth or not. Just.. leave it.) I've dealt with it, and moved on. I still do suffer from some symptoms of depression, and occasionally have thoughts about self-harming, which I do my best to disregard and ignore.
I also have experience with people who are bipolar - my father, for instance, was a perfect example of a
clinically bipolar human being.
Okay now I can continue.
The original topic of this thread! I can't forget to talk about that!!
So, CrystalKnowledge stated that he
personally dislikes depression and suicide threads, and several people have agreed with him.
His reasoning? Summed, up:
- He thinks that some of those people may be doing it for attention. (Not everyone.) They want people to praise them, or give positive comments.
- He does have a precedent to base off of. Ender_Harold. In the past, Ender_Harold created a thread, claiming to be his brother, and stating that Ender_Harold (Real name, Cole) had passed away. I don't remember the specifics, and Subv3rsion himself has supposedly erased evidence of whatever Ender_Harold did, so I can't find the thread. Ender_Harold is also forum-banned (yet has sadly made alt accounts..)
- This is the wrong website to do it on. We all know this is not a website for depression thoughts. It's a video game forum, not a depression help hotline or website.
Now, I have to agree that
some people - hopefully just a very,
very small portion - are doing it for attention. We don't really have any solid proof of people doing it, though - it's mostly intuition based off of their actions and words. Announces depression
>Receives compliments
>Says they're getting better
>Perhaps insert another depressive spiral here
>Boom, back in business, everything's fine.
I can't say that that's actually what happens, but I've seen stuff like that occur. I do know for a FACT that people on MCGamer DO have depression, even a Senior Mod who happens to really love cute Pokemon. When I was first starting to competitively play MCSG, I was depressed, and used MCSG as my escape from it all. It actually worked for me.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 3.3% of teens from the ages of 13-18 experience a "seriously debilitating depressive disorder."
Those 3.3%. The facts may not tell you this, but something that I find to be true, is:
More teens who are lower on the "social ladder" in schools and other groups experience depression than the teens who are higher on the "social ladder".
For example - Nerds and geeks (yes, there's a difference) IF they experience depression, it is often caused by bullying from others or thoughts of self-worthlessness, which can sometimes be caused simply by their outward appearance.
Obese teens may have thoughts, similarly to the above mentioned, of self-worthlessness caused by their weight or bullying
which occurred because of that weight. After all, we all know how evil some people can be. I've first-hand experienced all three aspects of the bullying circle - the bully, the bullied, and the bystander.
Okay can I stop typing now? I'm getting cramps because I haven't eaten yet and I've been typing for like the past half an hour. I've only been awake for 45 minutes. ;_;
Bamber am I done yet?
EDIT FROM LIKE 24 MINUTES AFTER POSTING THIS: I HONESTLY GOT NOTHING WHATSOEVER DONE IN THIS THREAD. LIKE YEAH, IT WAS INFORMATIVE, BUT IT HONESTLY SERVED NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO STAND HERE AND LOOK PRETTY. AND LONG, REALLY LONG.
...thats what she said.... I'm sorry I had to..
SO YEAH.
ACTUALLY, AFTER READING THIS AGAIN IT...
oh wait, i had caps lock on. GG. I'm too lazy to go back and retype that. Continuing..
Actually, after reading through my post again, I suppose it does give
some purpose, but it doesn't take a clear stance on this issue. So just to clarify and summarize, I do personally believe that suicide and depression help-threads are OK, but
only if the person is actually facing depression/suicidal thoughts, and wants help. Don't post it just to rant. (
Even though I do post rant threads sometimes, which I really shouldn't.) So only post them threads if you want someone's help - don't post it just to express yourself, try to ask for advice on your situation, and actually take that advice and try to apply it in your personal life, and see if it helps. Otherwise, what's the point in talking about it? That's what friends are for, but if you're just taco 'bout it, just stick to Skype and TeamSpeak or something.
Edit from like 38 minutes after posting this: And before y'all go off about how I need God in my life or something, cause all I do is type long posts on a gaming forum and talk about how I was depressed... I just went Bible shopping yesterday, and I'm going to a church camp in August for two weeks in NY.
