You can't have "good" and "iMac" in the same sentence xD (at least gaming-wise).
Macs are actually very good computers and WAY better than windows. They are built better, faster, and sleeker. They just don't support games very well.

My best answer: Build a windows cpu from scratch and get all the beast parts separately.

I know, macs are very good (I had one for 5 years). However, when it comes to gaming, you are WAY better off with a windows. Also with windows there are much more options for customization. On my old mac from 2008 ($1200), I would play on short render distance, 1280 x 720 resolution and fast graphics. I would usually get 30-40 fps. On my new windows ($800) I play on 1920x1080, 128x128 texture pack, fancy, and get 120-300 fps.

I have a mac mini with 8GB ram, and a 2.6 ghz i7 processor. With optifine it gets me 100 fps while recording.

I recommend turning v sync on!

I get a consistent fps at around 60. :D
