Total kills/killstreak not going up?

I am playing the games 'correctly', and get plenty of kills. I am awarded the score for these kills, but my total kills/streak isn't going up. Any ideas?
I don't really mind it that much, I just want to know why and if it can be fixed. Or, if I'm just being an idiot and missing something obvious.

And I know for a fact I get kills. I am getting the message saying I was awarded the points and in fact have 20 wins, but my streak just stays in place.

I'm not a master of this topic, but i could guess that the streak resets when you die. A streak is the # of kills you make without dying.

your killstreak is the same as most kills per round. I dont think it matters if you die, not sure

No, streak shows your highest number of kills you've achieved in a single game if I'm not mistaken. (Could be totally wrong.) As well, my total kills refuses to go up.
