If you've seen the movie Battle Royale they start with a backpack with rations and one random item of a varying use. Everything from a handgun to a frying pan.
If you could have a Battle Royale server where everyone starts with one random semi use item:
Wooden or Stone Sword
Bow
Map
A piece of Leather or Gold Armour (as it's more fragile than iron and the only other step up)

And maybe food as well rather than instead of, but it could be just a random item of food in place of anything else it would increase competition rather than an outright steam roll by one lucky player (or a team of two).

Maybe there should be a time limit on your item release to prevent an early corn masacre with one lucky person getting a stone sword (sort of a reverse grace period).

Another Battle Royale feature that would be interesting would be (I think it was introduced in the second movie) is Dead Zones. Periodically areas become "Dead" as the people still in it have their collar detonated. Maybe have chunks go dead where perhaps it becomes flooded with creepers or something.. Or maybe just detonates the player after a countdown :p All with the aim of reeling players in together slowly so it's not a game of hide and go camp for an hour.

I don't expect both of these over all servers but maybe a few Battle Royale specialised ones :p

Or at least a couple of servers with different stipulations on to mix things up a little.

So yeah... Feedback? :p
(Btw "No." isn't feedback ;) )

Sounds interesting :p
I like the randomness of it, no 'set' matches where everything happens the same.

I'm noticing a pattern of if there is a sword at spawn, there's suddenly a lot of "cannon fire" as tributes are took out rapidly everywhere, or starve and die. There's no defense, no survival, just a coin flip/dice roll.
Last time I died, I died with seeds and a piece of rotten meat.. What was I supposed to do with that?

This isn't the survival games, it's completely different. The point of the survival games is you have to get the items yourself and if we do what you're suggesting then everyone will just start killing right at the beginning and the game will end before 10 people leave the cornucopia.

"Before 10 people leave the corn"
Hence the idea of the reverse grace period..

And if it's one random item, you'll still need to go and survive to find others to succeed, you won't win on the back of one wooden sword (certainly not on the back of one porkchop). That's not completely different, it's mildly tweaked.

If it's random it's extremely unfair to the people that don't get swords. And if they do get wood sword, they can always get more from killing more people.

This is just not the survival games, it's a completely different style.

No it's NOT a completely different style as all loot found in the survival games is random too, so is that ALSO unfair to those that don't get swords? It's one random loot item given to all. ONE item.

And anyway if it is different, like I said, it didn't have to be full server wide, just a few servers for the game mode.

Constantly claiming that it's a completely different game despite it being one minor change doesn't make it any more true :p

It's not a minor change though. Giving everyone an item at the start is extremely unfair to those who don't get swords. It also completely rules out the need for going to the cornucopia for those people. It is a different game style as long as you start with something game changing. It's like the District advantages, except random for everyone. So I'm going to consider this a No No Suggestion.

You won't know what you get until you get it after the wait period so you'd still gamble for the middle. And saying it's unfair they got a sword, as I mentioned previously, is the same as saying it's unfair they get a sword from the corn run or the first chest they open in the wild.
It gives people a chance to survive at the start rather than be left completely to the mercy or nature or another player.

Sounds to me like for HalfSquirrel it was TL;DR. It isn't completely luck because you have a choice, stick around the corn and hope you get a weapon, or head out and work with what you've got.

I think it is a fun idea. While it is different from the current Survival Games, it isn't far off and it might be a fun thing to try on a few servers in the future.

Finally someone gets my idea :p
If you run to corn you stand the chance of multiple good items.. or a severe case of suddenly dying.
If you don't take this and go off, not knowing where the chests are as a lot of experienced players learn, you shouldn't be left completely empty handed and punished for this choice. Choosing to always dive bomb a pile of chests beside 23-47 other people is not necessarily the best move for "Survival" lol.
