A somewhat small solution to the somewhat small problem of small map popularity.

What do you think about this small solution to this small problem

Small maps seem to have a major advantage when it comes to popular vote. In a recent poll, 100 percent off the maps picked where smaller than SG1. Small maps are generally liked because the time required to play a game is shortened. Some people hate having to play the same map over and over again. Instead of reducing the amount of times these smaller maps can be played or banning them all together, I have a different solution. We shrink all maps to about 50 blocks wide. That way, games can go even faster than they do now with small maps. Plus, it will take map makers less time to make them, giving the community an endless supply of community maps. These smaller maps are also newb freindly, requiring less time to memorize maps and can make it easier to die as well. Games will take an estimated 5 minutes to play compaired to the 20 minutes they do now. This will obviously cause a lack of chests, leaving the games to be nothing but fights and luck. But thats what the popular vote wants, doesn't it?

Quite the unfunny joke.
The community likes a good radius, not to small ( 100 radius ), not to big ( 1000 ), but kind of the sweet spot at 500.
There are still some good big maps that are played tons, like map 2, and defeat other small maps.

Also it's not that the maps are small, it's that when the maps ARE small, they have a lot more effort put into the buildings and structural design, while big maps are more like generated terrain with a few ugly buildings and chests in small caves.

I think that if the majority of people want to play a map they want, then let them. There's a voting system for a reason, and it's so that everyone can decide what map they want to play. If they want to play Breeze Island ten times in a row, that's their choice.

On the basis of this post, i definitly don't agree. Some maps are too big in my opinion, i won't lie. But the smaller maps are much more differently made than the larger ones. Chests are closer together, more densely packed, and theres often some relief (as in Breeze) to spice up gameplay a bit. Also, 50 blocks in diameter is barely the size of the cornucopia. Breeze islands main island is about 80 - 100 blocks in diameter (not including the surrounding areas), and it never should be any smaller, otherwise it's not longer survival games and so it doesn't belong on these servers.

50 blocks in diameter *Smacks face* even if players were one block next to another, the corn takes up 24 of those block in a wide circle. The gameplay would be SO short. I think the game would end after 2-5 minutes.

This is obviously a sarcastic troll in response to people liking to play smaller maps. Don't even bother treating it as a valid suggestion.

While it's true that the majority seems to like small maps, that doesn't mean they all need to be small from now on, especially not 50 blocks in diameter... maybe, maybe 50 blocks in radius, if the map had lights of tall buildings, then maybe, but any smaller than Breeze and it's just ridiculous. (Breeze is already just a bit small as it is and feels completely different than even SG4 - SG4 is perfect in size and gameplay, a perfect mash together of it.)

Yeah SG4 has got to be the best size for a map.

If I was a map creator I would use the same size as SG4.
