The 1.8 name change! What will be changed to your MCSG stats, bans or ranks?

Hey guys,

I got so many questions about the 1.8 changes;

I have really good stats, what if I change my name? Will your stats reset too?
I got banned on MCSG for hacking but if I change my name can I join then?
I've bought platinum donor, but I won't change my name because then is my rank gone right?

No, no, no, no, no I will explain this.

Every server on Minecraft is working with UUID's (Universally Unique IDentifier), that means that the playerdata is saved under an ID, so not under your name. That means that if you are banned you will not be unbanned (I'm sorry <3), also; Your stats will not be changed and your rank that you have bought stays with you!

I'm pretty sure the user information database has already converted to using UUIDs instead of player names. UUID stands for universally unique identifier, which is a strand of letters and numbers which won't change should you choose to change your name in 1.8, therefore linking any stats or bans tied to the UUID to any new name you choose.

I'm too stupid to understand this stuff with the UUID system, but from what I'm seeing I'm guessing the UUID has something to do with your IP address so it links all accounts? Can I please get an explanation if I'm wrong?

No, Each account has a code[uuid], and that code can hold a name, which is changeable. Your UUID will never change, yet you can change your name.

So... The code that holds it's own name is unchangeable, therefore interlocking the ranks and stats even if you change the name?

Yes, and the current state of your account in a server. If let's say it's banned and you change your account's name, it still stays banned.

Remember though, even though I am looking forward to the name change. Mojang is not guaranteeing that we will be able to change our name in 1.8. They have said 1.8 would be the earliest version they release this feature

I really hope they add the feature in 1.8!!
