So, I have a problem here which has run throughout all 849 of my games. Ever since I started playing MCSG, I've had this problem: Lag spikes. Every now nd then, particularly when I'm about to PvP a player, occasionally when I open a chest or when I load a place: the lobby, a dmatch arena, or the actual map. Excluding loading things, when I have a lag spike (very occasionally), the timer on the side freezes, players stop moving, and I can walk around. This typically lasts 15 seconds, in which time the game pretends I'm not moving until the timer unfreezes. Take last dmatch for example. I had the best stuff, and the other guys had full leather with stone swords. I had iron with a diamond sword.
By the time it loaded, the game said "You've lost ^ points for dying". The other players fought.
Another time, I was in the water, trying to get away from some guy. He stopped moving, and so did the timer. When it responded again, I was where my screen had showed before, the guy was hitting the water where he had been when it froze. I had lost 90% of my health.
THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ON THE HIVE, MCSG AND BLITZ.

Here's my computer stats:
I'm running windows 7 (hate it so much), it almost never lags and hasn't crashed in a while. It's i5, I have the latest graphics card drivers, latest Java, and the network works fine with my friend. My computer is a 15-inch sony vaio. It has two graphics cards.
P.S: My friend running the same things on the same computer with the same settings and on the same network didn't have the problem.

I don't feel like writing any more, so post a reply if you want to know more. Thanks in advance.

It happens on all of them: Ca never has anyone to play with, us, as, eu and au all have the same problems.
Like I said, my friend never has the problem despite having the same computer, on the same network. They have other problems though. :p

This happens with any server. With a large community comes more lag, due to the servers not being able to keep up with all of the players. Also, there are people who dislike the servers and wish to do malicious things to it, so they decide to waste their time on trying to take the servers down via DDoS.

I also have this problem on US. Maybe for like 3-4 months playing minecraft! Everything would stop and I would either die or get disconnected with this io.netty.handler error. This makes minecraft unplayed for me and my ratio is getting worse and worse everyday! So sad :(

I believe that these lag spikes are due to the cheating plugin known as NCP, but I am not one-hundred percent sure.

Ok. is there a way to fix it?
P.S: My friend running the same things on the same computer with the same settings and on the same network didn't have the problem.
Like I said, my friend does not have a problem.
my ratio is getting worse and worse everyday!
Sam here. At least 1 in 10 games I lose due to these "spikes"

Sorry, but at this time only the developers can work to fix these problems. I can ensure you they are trying harder and harder to figure out these problems. I would recommend using optifine, if you don't use it already.

Thanks. I've tried Opti, but I might just hard wipe windows. As I remember, there was no problem before I reset Windows for the second time.

The problem is not client lag; I've tried every setting possible; it has something to do with the way windows screws up. Besides, my computer is pretty good anyway and I use optifine.
