I read the title of this thread and was like "if someone suggested lava buckets, I will find you and throttle you."

Upon actually reading the suggestion, I agree that f&s is better for the following reasons:

- can be crafted relatively easily, thus making it a challenge to obtain and then craft
- is more strategic than chucking a bunch of flying objects at someone Nexus-style
- is WAY less liable to bug out (fire charges are prone to lag and turn invisible when launched)
- Fire charges are meant to be launched from a redstone contraption, not thrown by hand

Fire charges can be used in vanilla like a 1 use flint and steel.

If you watched CaptainSparklez's redstone wars second part with Generikb, Generik's machine's fire charges still turned invisible when launched. That was a vanilla issue.

And also, seeing as I'm on my phone, would some kind soul manage to post a craftine recipe image (or wiki link) for fire charges? I can't really do Google searching right now.

I know they can turn invisible. I'm saying that you can only launch them with dispensers, not by hand (which is not really a combat option) and you can place them down like you would a flint and steel to make a fire. The invisibility while launched bug is irrelevant as the charges wouldn't be launched out of anything, they'd be placed.

And the recipe is coal, blaze powder, gunpowder (I don't think shape matters).

Erm....yeah that sounds too much like adding a gun or cannon-type device, which breaks the spirit of the Hunger Games (and Minecraft). That and it seems like it would be too complicated for newer players to use. It would probably end up being like Mineplex's barricades and tripwires, never used. :p

I still don't think you're getting it... it can be used in the exact same manner as FnS. The only difference is that 1 fire charge is used up to make 1 fire. There is nothing related to launching in the idea. This is how they would be used if in MCSG (The first 30 seconds or so):

The only problem is, people will be able to spam the crap out of it. You could have a stack of 64 fire charges, and that would just be extremely cheap.
With the magic of plugins you can limit how many items go in a stack. (look at MineZ for example)

But if the stack is limited, it completely removes the whole purpose of this suggestion. He wanted this so that flint and steels wouldn't take up inventory space, but if you could only have 4 in one stack, it is the exact same thing.
