What music do you listen to while playing solo?

Well, that depends on the person of which we are talking about. It's like how listening to music can both inspire creativity, and at the same time, make it harder, depending on the person and the mood.

Personally, I feel that I play better when listening to music...at least the right kind of music. Music that pumps me up, makes me imagine the world as if it were the set of a movie, and I have to make it out on top without a scratch. A cinematic that just shows how "awesome" I am. Although it sounds egotistical...and it is, in a sense, it really does help. I feel like I have a reason to do well aside from just winning for statistics sake.

All of this...makes me more aware of my surroundings. I become pumped on by the music that makes me want to do well. All that's on my mind is the game, and the music. The music flushes out all other thoughts and allows to me focus on the game at hand, and the music that only makes me want to play the game more.

Edit: This is how I imagine the world sometimes...as if it were a movie. A cinematic. I imagine professional editing to make that arrow that I narrowly dodged look even greater. I have to do my best to look the best for the movie. After all, in this movie...I'm the star.

People might have other methods of doing it, but this is how I pump myself up, and it works. I am particularly interested in cinematics: Movies, animations, etc. I love watching every single Minecraft cinematic that's ever existed, and reviewing them. Criticizing them myself. What did it do well? What's wrong with it? I honestly believe that, given the proper software and some time, I could make something great myself, and I'm particularly interested in doing so...but I haven't. Still, due to my desire to do it, I can imagine the world as if it were a movie. A good one. And I love letting my mind wander into this world.

Realistically, it doesn't have that much of physical impact on ones game performance. That being said, regardless of the degree, any sort of positive physical altercation that stems from music is nearly 100% negligible. (If there were a way to express such an absolute regard in a non-numerical way I would but as it stands, a numerical quantification will have to do) On that note, the only major change is a change in one's mentality. Although said mental altercation could result in positive outcomes, such a mental inclination can only carry you so far in a game based on both skill and chance.

By allocating a portion of your intellectual capacity on "sound waves" so to speak, you ultimately see no change whatsoever due to the fact that any positive outcome of listening to music is smothered by all the negative changes brought upon by music.

Simply put: You think you are doing better because of the music, but in reality, you really are not. However, that is not to say that you should't listen to music. Perhaps it is a good thing that you think you are doing better simply because that feeling will have a generally positive impact on your current mood.

...you tried why too hard to make that post as confusing as possible with many, many big words. lol. How long did it take you to make this thing? >.>

As such, I feel the need to point out your fail:

In all seriousness: Although I understand your logic behind it, it's not theory that certain types of music can bring upon certain thoughts, which in turn can do a bunch of things. The act of thinking about certain things can physically change the way you feel: Change decisions made, your mood, etc. As such, it's no stretch to say that music can have a positive effect on your gameplay. Honestly, the way it works for me: When I get into a fight, I can drown out that music in my concentration. My mood, however, doesn't change and still effects my desire to...well, in this case, do well. You don't need to be actively thinking about something for it to effect your decisions, desires, etc. You thought about it, it changed your mood, you stop thinking about it, yet you're still...in the same mood. Kind of like how someone can become frustrated at a game, stop for a few minutes, have stopped thinking about it, yet still feel like yelling at someone.

What? Why would I attempt to make a post as confusing as possible? If I wanted to make a post as confusing as possible, you would not be able to comprehend a single sentence out of it, yet alone come up with a reasonable response. (Although the validity of said response is more than questionable.)

Moving on to you pointing out my "fail".

You must ask yourself, was it necessary to do that? Based on the fact I had an error in my writing, you can, on your own, come to the conclusion that I put very little effort into my forum post. The reason behind this is purely because there is no need for effort. The amount of effort I put into a forum post stating opinion (albeit some of it is researched and justifiable science however it appears you cease to acknowledge that...yet alone believe it).

Taking a look at the error itself, was the error to a degree in which you could not understand the message I was trying to convey? Of course not. If we take a look at the surrounding contextual words, we can clearly make out the message I was attempting to convey. Thus, my attempt to convey something is deemed acceptable as this is a non professional topic and, to a lesser degree, environment.
