I wondered that you could. You can't place cakes down or fire on the ground during deathmatch tho. You can light someone on fire tho.

If your stuck in a 2 block hole and you have a team-mate you can make him punch or fishing rod you otu and you keep on jumping to boost yourselves out

Yes, but that hardly ever happens. It is extremely difficult.

Please note too that golden armour is as good as chain, and an enchanted stone sword is the same as an iron sword. One tip I can offer is that if you start out on a bad footing in a fight, run away. Once you've regained enough health, turn around and fire off arrows at them and then resume fighting.

a chainmail helmet is 1/2 shield stronger than a gold helmet...
sharpness gives 1/2 heart damage for each enchant level
a stone sword does 2 1/2 heart damage, and iron sword does 3 heart damage.
Give a stone sword sharpness I and it gets 3 hearts worth of damage.

Wrong, gold, chain and iron helmets all give you the same amount of armour bars
