You can not do that.
The hub is a seperate server. The Minecraft client does not support server redirection, therefore you connect to a central proxy which handles moving you around between servers.

Ahh, I see. Always Minecraft's fault. xD
Well if that was implemented, I think so many people would like the hub a lot more.
But I guess it can't.
Last question; why was the hub implemented so abruptly? There was no petition or anything. I just logged on one day and there was a hub.

You can still connect the MCSG servers with the original ip, and on the forums there is a handy tab that shows you the servers state.

Also remember that the hub isn't just for MCSG, it's for zedchase, survival, creative, MCTF2 and MCSG. So this isn't just for the MCSG servers, however for many other servers. It get's more servers out to the larger MCSG community that may or may not know about the servers in the past. And as Forairan said, minecraft limits what we can do, like server redirection and the way minecraft works around the server list.

As a primarily CA-player I haven't been affected by the plague of the Hub yet, but I am very against it. Hubs are nice for meeting people, but you should still be able to join oldschool, it is so much easier to be like, "Yo Bro, CA? get in here quick." in a skype call with friends than being like, "Spam click to try and get in!" I'm against hubs if they try and make it the main thing for joining servers, as of now I'm in favour of keeping the early US servers as hub only, make everything else just straight up normal join.

You can still type the server IP in and connect from there. However, I really like the hub. It gives you a chance to really interact with other people in the community. The sign method isn't even that bad. I don't see a valid reason not to use the hub unless you're from another country or something.

So it would not be possible to go back to how it was.... and give users the ability to type /hub to get to the hub?

Yes, as Forairan said, you cannot redirect users to the hub if each sever is using a separate MOTD.
