Actually, the easiest way to do this does not require mods. Hit escape in-game and then hit open to LAN. Then start a LAN world in survival with cheats enabled. then you you can do /gamemode 1.

Get singleplayer commands or there is also a program where you can change your world type.. but dont ask the name of it lol

Just Open to LAN and allow cheats, its that simple.
