Well, it depends. The internet gives us the opportunity to mask our real selves because we're behind a screen and it is up to us whether to be ourselves or to act like someone we're not. Most people who change on the internet do it intentionally, to escape problems or to hide who they are.

I think it probably does, but if the community you are has people that are very similar in personality, they probably won't change your personality too much.

I've noticed that I'm a lot better at talking to people on the internet than IRL people. This is mainly because I tend to have a lot more in common with people in the same online communities as me, so I don't feel judged.
In the real world, I only have 2 friends that I am myself around. I find it harder to make friends IRL because there aren't many people in my school/city that are into the same stuff as me, but on the internet, you can meet people from all over the world, making it a lot easier to talk to people that like the same things that you do.

My personality on the internet is much different from my IRL personality because on the internet, I'm not afraid to be myself. c:

Oh boy, an interesting topic. Time to articulately express my thoughts and feelings about this post.

Yes, yes it does.

On a more serious note, the internet has just made my personality worse, as I'm probably more introverted than I ever was. I became more accustomed to talking to people without actually seeing them, and such, it's hard for me to maintain eye contact with people when I speak to them. My online life correlates with my personality outside of it.

It's all a matter of perspective. Simply try to stop caring about how others think of you, and speak to them like they're your friends on TeamSpeak.
It worked for me at least.
Thanks for the tip but I wouldn't say im the nicest person in the world...not to mention its not weird when there is a few seconds of silence on teamspeak :/.

If you do it right, the internet world can be an awesome place! Giggity69Goo Ceroria ZombieChick and more peoples I agree and I think that there is no point in hiding yourself. Just be who you are in the real world, and your personality might naturally get more confident or wiser from the internet, apply that to the real world in certain circumstances. Yes, it does change people.

I can see that.

I personally am a bit more open online than I am in real life. I'm more willing to give my opinions on various topics and I tend to be more of myself around my internet friends than I am in real life. The people of this community tend to be more accepting of others and who they are.

On another hand, the internet has also taught me some valuable things as well. I am no longer self-conscious, I have made new friends in person, I am no longer nervous when I must do a presentation, I no longer wish to curl up and cry when I make a mistake. In other words, I don't necessarily act differently, rather my experiences in both fields has helped develop me as a person.

To a certain extent yes It does.
If you are a gamer you don't have much of a social life (most of the time) (and no offense)
Look at all those crazy girls on tumblr they are sensitive, if you are a homophobic and you are on tumblr, R.I.P

I think most gamers aren't introverted, because there are so many communities that you can join. It's pretty rare to find a solo-only player, because if you don't have people to share your interests, you normally get bored. It's just human nature.

Well, I made some pretty amazing friends on the internet :) And yep, we kept in contact and guess what, we actually planned a trip. I went to visit him in Hong Kong and it was pretty awesome :) Internet has actually made me more social, but it takes up a chunk of my time now ;-; which is pretty sad and amazing at the same time :) Internet is a tool, and it can be misused (dat school essay finish tho)

If anyone saw how quiet and irrelevant I am IRL... Some people in my classes don't even know I exist... I think people would be shocked.
