Teams provide a challenge for solo players. If there are ffa servers there still will be people that team in order to beat a person that they consider a threat. In my opinion I don't think anything will change even if MCGAMER decides to add ffa servers.

Great idea!

This would hopefully regain people that have left due to this subject. As for me, I rarely team, so I wont be in the 100+ servers.

I have a question; If we are based in the AU Region - we don't have 100 servers, so would the amount of servers just be split in half?

Anyway great idea, I strongly agree with it.

Masking IGN's is a no no. The FFA servers would be Hacker Central since there would be no way to report them.
You do realize we have a disguise system already installed that allows us to ban players even if we don't know their name, correct?

There are many problems with the ideas mentioned here, but the cause may not be hopeless.
  1. There are various degrees of teaming, from two people who simply focus on the best player in deathmatch to "glue teams" who share all their items and walk around the map like girls going to the bathroom at school. (In a big, impenetrable blob) Where would we draw the line?
  2. The whole masking idea is terrible, because as mentioned above by ImProfuse, the disguise would heavily encourage hackers. Most hackers are caught by regular players recording, so even if they were visible to spectators, a lot of hackers would still get away.
  3. We don't need another rule to enforce. These poor forums are already flooded with complaints about teams, trash talk, and hackers. If we did this, we would start getting complaints about how people have been teaming in the FFA servers.
  4. This would increase stress on moderators.
Possible solutions:
  1. Make the servers chat-free. Players may only say commands.
  2. Make every player have blindness until five seconds before the game starts.
  3. Make it so that items disappear once thrown from one's inventory.
  4. Make it so that if players stop within a 10-block radius of one another, they get struck by lightning. (Exception would be the beginning of the game) I realize this would be annoying and unfair in some cases, such as on Solar Frost, with all of its thin walls. I guess it would just become part of the strategy of the game.
  5. Make sure the rules are very clear on what constitutes teaming.

I believe a good idea if these servers are implemented is to make sure their would be some sort of announcement every now and then, reminding players that it is an FFA server and teaming is strictly prohibited. Another thing I would also like is if when someone were to say team in the chat it basically blocks out the whole message reminding the player and then warns the player that teaming with others on the FFA servers could result in punishment.

I would very much like to see ffa servers such as 100+ like you said, for moderating it I don't think it would be that difficult. People that are teaming would most likely know not to play ffa servers similar to that teams of 4 are the max on a different server and you almost never see anyone in more than 4. It would just be a kick for teaming considering it isn't a big deal. I normally don't have a problem with teaming but when I am trying to record a game it can be really annoying dying to big teams or when I am trying to focus on my commentary it can be really hard to face a team especially if you get unlucky chests. :p

Me myself would like the idea of ffa servers, but having them in the same section of the SG hall would be a bit difficult, maybe have 2 different halls for normal sg and ffa sg. But then theres another part of me where I would not like to have ffa servers, true that it may make people less mad and depressed, but we could never really control it, and getting banned for teaming seems like a stupid idea, so that may be a flaw.

Clearly you don't know the process they go through to find the true username of the disguised player. First they check the logs of the the Disguise NAME and the server that the disguise name played on in order to find the real player behind that disguise name. Now with there being NO names above players, there is nothing for the mods to work with.
Clearly you don't know the process in which minecraft works. You can't have players without names above them. All players in the ffa servers would have a name similar to a disguised name.
