Why I Think Age Limits Should Be Removed.

The age limit is there to keep our community a safe place. Its like any age-restricting law in the real world (some examples being you have to be 16-17 years old to drive, you having to be at least 21 to drink alcohol in the US, ect.), which are in place to keep the world generally safe from accidents caused by younger people.

The commands that Moderators are given can be dangerous when used incorrectly and can be used to purposely harm others, just like a car can be used to cause accidents and potentially hurt others if used incorrectly. Because of this, we must go with the averages on how mature one is at any certain age to prevent potential problems that have been encountered in the past.

Now there are always exceptions, as people can be more mature at a younger age and may be able to become staff here at MCGamer (One example is me, as I revived my promotion before I turned 15), which is where the age exception process comes into play.

TL;DR:
Even though you may be mature at a young age, would you trust any other kid your age driving a car?
Best age exception example ever. <3

Hello everyone, I am making this thread to express my opinion. I don't want any flame, If there is, I'll get a mod to lock it.

I think there shouldn't be any age limit for moderator.
Why should people be judged on age? Should it not be on how well there application is written and how mature they act? If you would like to have a calm debate about this topic, feel free to post.
If you arecan owner of a server yourself, I th nk you should take this into considerstion.

Simply stated, age comes with experience.

Sure, underage applicants can sometimes be mature. However, I've noticed something with current teen pop culture; they all seem to think that they are mature and can handle any situation. I used to think like this as well, but there are situations you just haven't been in touch with and once it hits you, you'll be on the ground with your legs tied to the earth's core, unwilling and not able to get up. I do realize that some people, mostly 12 or 13, believe they have the maturity/responsibility/leadership skills to become a moderator. But honestly, if they enjoy the idea of being a moderator, they could always make mature and correct reports on players; that's essentially being a mod helper. If that's not good enough for you, and you're just in it for the tag, you should probably walk away because that's a definition of not being ready for the job.

While MCSG doesn't exert the best staff team, I have to say they do give a damn about who is and who isn't getting the job. I completely agree with their judgment on age. Another reason that MCSG could be doing this is because they don't want a bad name for a server. Imagine a well-aged player on the forums, looks through the senior mods, sees one 'Age: 12'. They're obviously going to be put off. They'd be more pleased to find a server full of staff aged 19+. I think anyone would be more comfortable with a well-aged server.

I recognize MCSG has an age exception rule. While this seems great, I find it to be slightly toxic. Some moderators, no names shall be said, should definitely not be moderator, ESPECIALLY not an age exception. Currently, I'm sure that the certain moderators, which no names shall be said again, are going to have strict talking-to's. Honestly, the only good age exception I've seen is Tironas11, which at that point I'm sure the staff would disagree with me on that.

Anyways my point being, again: Age comes with experience.

Removing an age limit wouldn't suddenly make everyone who was previously ineligible to become a moderator now have a 100% success rate at becoming a moderator. Removing the age limit won't remove the level of maturity needed to become a moderator. By allowing 14 years olds to become moderator, the mature ones can become moderators and the immature ones can't.

Atm, the age limit in place doesn't ensure everyone above that limit to becoming a moderator so why should anyone assume that by removing that limit anyone can become a moderator?

Not everyone, What I mean is people that are mature and are qualified to be a moderator under 16 cant even apply.

You got an age exception, Anyone who didn't get an age exception and can't get an age exception can't apply.
Exactly! That makes sense! You have to go get an age exception if you want to get mod, any player can try and get one.

To be honest, I don't think the age limit should be removed. If someone's mature enough to get mod and they are under the age necessary, they should be given an age exception. If they're not, then there must be a perfectly good reason for that.

Am I the only person who seems to think the age limit should be higher? The community is quite large and I'm sure that there are a lot of applicants. Age limits filter out applicants who are generally less qualified, with an age limit the senior staff has fewer applications to look at making their jobs easier.

Age plays a big part in maturity levels.

No I'm sure me and a few others would agree with that. I might be fourteen, but I'd like to see more well-aged staff.
