Pshhh, I'll just copy-paste what I put on Yahoo! Answers and put it on here, because #yolo #sweg. :D I do not plan on using Shaders or anything, I believe. :p

Hello! :)
Christmas is nearing, and the one thing that has really been on the top of my wishlist is a new graphics card for my pc. As my pc currently stands, it is not built for gaming - simply for just browsing and whatnot.

With that, I REALLY would like to buy a new graphics card to satisfy my wants in my pc. I don't play too heavy-duty games, more just like games such as The Sims 3 and Minecraft. Of course, I still want a graphics card that I may be able to play other games on in the future. :p

As my pc currently stands, in Minecraft, I get around 10-30 fps on lowest settings, and as for The Sims 3, I get around 10 fps. In Minecraft, I enjoy playing on pvp servers so I'm looking for a graphics card that could run at least 60 fps+, and as for The Sims 3, I want it to look smooth on either normal or high settings. :)

Here are the specs of my pc as it is now:

Model | HP Pavillion a6519fh PC
Graphics Card | Intel GMA 3100 (G33/G31 Chipset)
Ram | 3 GB
Processor | Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU @ 2.00 GHz 2.00 GHz
System Type | 32 Bit Operating System - Windows Vista
Space | 231 GB free of 455 GB

Yes, I know I will have to upgrade all of this eventually, but as for now, I am looking to start with a graphics card. I have heard that I may have to buy a new power supply, so I will try to see what I can do regardless.

I have a budget of around $200. Any more than that will be pushing it with what my family and I can afford at the moment, but I can see what I can do. c:<

So yes, see what you all can recommend, and any help would be great! :)

How much are you willing to pay? Also, consider buying another 3 or 4 gigabytes of RAM, you can normally buy ram cards at a computer or technology store.

I was thinking around $200 for the graphics card by itself, and then I'll see how much I can save up for a new power supply or ram like you said. :)

I use the nvidia 660 from asus, (Not 660TI) and I get between 60 - 400 fps, depending on what I am doing. Its normally around 250fps. But I'd really upgrade the cpu and ram, before upgrading the gpu. I doubt it'd work with the cpu you have now, not sure.

Hang on hang on. Are you sure your PC can even fit a nee card? You usually need two empty card slots and a PCI-Express x16 slot empty. And also you need enough power to run it. I will have a look at your PC's specs and see if that's even possible.

Alright, I'm sorry to tell ya, but it looks like your current power supply (250Watts) is nowhere near the requirement for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost for example. It requires 450Watts minimum. And not sure if ya knew, but 250 < 450. Also, the length of most modern graphics cards these days is over 24cm (about 9.5 inches) and I think that won't fit in your case.

You really have to consider looking into a new computer or get a small passive card, and even then, with your specs I can't guarantee anything.

Thank you both for your support. ^-^ I already said I would buy a new power supply alongside the graphics card. :) Although, I suppose that the new computer case may just be over my budget. I'll see what I can do though, and thank you all for your continued support!

lol, that cube was a joke, even though it is very practical design, its too expensive. If you need any help in choosing what parts you want, I can help out :)
