Hi there, on minecraft 1.6.2 whenever I install optifine (using magic launcher) it just constantly freezes the game and I have to uninstall it. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong or maybe i have to change some settings or something?

Thanks so much :D

First!, Have you tried not using magic launcher? If not then try just installing it manually, it doesn't take too long. Here's a guide how.

1. Download the latest OptiFine.
2. Drag it onto the desktop (or wherever you want it)
3. Click on "Setup" in Magic Launcher, and click "Add"
4. Click on the ZIP file you dragged on the desktop (or somewhere else)
5. Make sure it says "OK", and then click OK at the bottom of the window.
6. Click "Login", and it should work.

If this doesn't work, then I don't know. :p

Oh actually I believe I might know the problem! Try changing the settings of optifine, particularly the chunk loading in video settings. I actually had the same problem for ages and this seemed to fix it, it's because with multi-core processing you need 2 graphics cards or something. Try and change it to smooth loading. Hope this works :)

I cant seem to find the chunk loading settings you mentioned, I tried changing a setting called "Smooth World" but I still got the freezes, can you please show me a screenshot?

ALSO!: To people saying that I should try not using Magic Launcher, I already tried it without Magic Launcher and I still got the freezes I get with Magic Launcher, so that doesn't work.

I've never had this problem before but I think the problem is when you install Optifine it turns your settings to the maximum and your computer is probably not able to handle it. So,to fix the problem you might as well turn all go to the minimum settings.

I do not think that is the problem either, 1. The settings are not maxed out and 2. I consider my computer to be pretty good

If you have already added the mod on the Setup menu, you should probably check your environment settings. If you're on the Setup menu, find the environment tab, an open it. Make sure that it's set to 1.6.2. Also, under the mods tab, be sure that the status is listed as "OK." Be sure that you have the absolute latest version of Optifine. I believe that version should be Optifine_1.6.2_HD_U_B4. If you don't have that version, you should make sure to download it. :)
