I play minecraft and I don't play full screen. Can anything record just the mc portion of the screen and record with good quality?

I'm pretty sure all recording programs give you an option to change the screen size, but fraps is good for beginners, Dxtory in my experience causes a lot more problems

I'd recommend Dxtory since it can compress the file whilst recording (an average 20 minute video will be about 30-40gb) and can output as 1 file as opposed to FRAPS which can have mahooooosive file sizes and has to split the files up into 3-5 minute segments... unless you have a RAID setup.

Newer versions of Fraps don't split files, and compressing with Dxtory can be very resource heavy and only work on higher end computers. Fraps works well on my computer and a 20 minute video is usually around 17-20GB (I use an external hard drive, recording 30fps at 1280x720).

Short answer for people who don't want to spend hours configuring Dxtory:
Buy Fraps.

ah that's good news, nice to see they've fixed a lot of issues I had with the program :) Might switch back to see if it's worth converting back for good. I run a fairly high end PC (no titans or anything) so I wouldn't notice a difference in performance unfortunately but dxtory has done me justice for some time now so I recommended that :)
it also only takes a few minutes to set up not hours haha.
