The reason people think that they are "Punished for stating opinions" is a kind of sad process.
Player complains about MCSG, most statements are untrue and are mostly made to cause arguments ---> Thread is closed for flame/inaccurate information ---> People take it the wrong way, thinking that mods closed it due to a disagreement ---> They complain about how mods are "Censoring our opinions" ---> That thread is closed for downright lying and untruthfulness ---> This adds fuel to the flame, and makes more people believe the initial claim ---> This group of people start to tear apart any and every closed thread to find evidence of censorship ---> People continue to pour in as these instances are questioned ---> The process continues as more people begin to join in to the "Cause" and the utter hatred towards staff increases ---> The staff tries to make rebuttal to these nearly baseless claims ---> People believe the staff are just trying to 'cover their behinds' and just allow any statement made by them to be untrue.
By the end of this chain - People are conditioned to ignore mod explanations, mods are on their wits end, mods and players leave, mods because of the hate they receive, players because they think mods are corrupt.
I agree that people do need to question what mods do and why they do them, in many instances they may be on the road to discovering legitimate mod abuse, but that doesn't mean you need to look at all of us through a shifted perspective. We're given mod for a reason, you need to keep a small amount of confidence in us and our decisions. We can't actively handle situations if we're worried that our decisions will be questioned by everyone for no good reason.
All I ask of the community is to try to avoid jumping on the "All mods are bad train" if you do feel there is an issue regarding a mod or a decision made by a mod please point it out to a Sr.Mod, and if you have an issue with something done by a Sr.Mod talk to someone higher up Sr.Mod (Admin or Community Manager). Avoid these big open "I HAVE AN ISSUE" discussion, because in all honestly, they're closed because many matter like this are purely circumstantial evidence based and tend to just disrespect mods as a whole.
This is the perfect gif for this entire thread...
Good day.
Respect your opinions, I'd rather this whole thing be done to be honest but if I have to keep going for that to happen then I will. Like you said, as long as no rules are broken in the process of speaking one's opinions then it should be fine. I'm glad that we can come to agreements like this aren't you? This is how the whole situation should be, just a simple exchange of opinions.Yoshi, I respect you, your a fellow pleaser , I can agree that some (and I say some, because the amount is about 50/50 on the truth to twisting scale[if that] ) people are speaking out for a noble cause... Ive been here since the beginning of mcsg, and ive seen it change in ways I didnt expect... (not gunna go into detail on that) And I can agree that MCSG is "Different" than what it was in the beginning... Is it worse? Thats a personal opinion... I have no personal quarrel with people "Speaking their mind" As long as no rules are broken in the due process... And believe it or not 80 percent of people claiming to speak their mind are like the example... Most people just arent "popular" enough to cause drama... While a lot of the mcsg community (imho) has become a popularity contest, I still see some genuine people out there... I have neither loyalty (in my personality) torward the staff, nor the community... I see people for how they act, and I treat them as such...
Im rambling at this point...
TL; DR : Both sides do it, I have no issue with people who "Speak their mind" as long as it doesnt break rules... If someone has a complaint with the staff, take it up with either the higher ups of that person, or the community manager... Bicentennial_Man Or Col_StaR ... Yoshi, love you bro, Id like to keep this debate going, at some other time (or any chance to talk to a yoshi)...
"Standing up to staff" and "backtalking staff" One is a bannable offense, and the other isnt...
I have evidence against this.At the very least, it would be great if you guys could stop making assumptions when you have barely any information on the matter.
NOBODY is being punished for speaking their mind, and we ARE NOT trying to keep anything quiet.
This thread will not be deleted, the only thing we would do is lock it, and that is only if it turns into a flame war.
