"It doesn't give a pvp advantage."
"The only advantage it gives is seeing a bit better"

I agree with you that it gives no pvp advantage, but it gives you an advantage in the Survival Games as a whole. Part of the game is being able to find your enemy and eliminate them. As MoLoToV said earlier in this thread:

If you can use an outside source to allow you to see clearly on a dark map such as Moonbase9, you clearly have the advantage over those who don't have this new piece of code within their game. So their reasoning does not come from that whoever has the mod is going to win a fight, but rather you're able to see people far more easily that the vanilla game allows, which is unfair to those who don't have the mod installed.
How come every other server allowed gamma since it gives you a "unfair" and "big" advantage

What are those server's main attraction? What are they're big gamemode people play? Unlike lots of servers out there, our server is primarily a SG server, were others like Badlion have 1v1s or a popular UHC. Those server's have a more varied playerbase than us, where a simple mod that only effects a small percentage of the server negatively isn't as bad. Since we basically ONLY Survival Games based AT THIS TIME, its reasonable to outlaw this mod where it effects a larger playerbase.

Now, if UHC worlds got more popular, or they implemented a 1v1 mode, then the mod can be put into consideration. As of now however, I think it should remain how it is.

(Sorry for the jumbled pile of text. Hard to format well on mobile.)

Even if that is the case gamma is built into the game. All you have to do is go in your .minecraft and go into options so why is it not allowed? Everyone can do it

That's still considering "modding" your game. You're editing internal files to change settings past the allowed limit. If you can't do it in a vanilla in-game instance, it's likely considered a mod. Both these instances, either editing your options.txt or installing UHC Essentials, their Fullbright option is the same functionality, both needing modification to your game files in order to achieve.

Also, sure, everyone can do it, but does everyone know how to do it? Lots of people, including a couple I know irl, don't even know how to access their .minecraft folder without asking me. So those who have the knowledge of how to access the files will be able to use these modifications. As this isn't the entire playerbase of the server, you can just assume "since everyone can do it, it should be allowed." It may be common knowledge to us regular minecraft players, but just not everyone knows it.

You must be really unintelligent if you can't access your .minecraft

Now that's a rather rude comment to make. Just because someone doesn't know how to access the internal files of a block game doesn't make them unintelligent. This game does not reflect on one's knowledge. They may not know how to get to the folder, but they could be very knowledgeable in other areas of life. That or they're just too young to know. There's tons of factors that can play into it.

I think that making a bold statement like that without any back thought reflects on the intelligence of yourself, not those that you're currently judging.

I can't really outargue you because you write an essay in response but I still stand by what I think, which is gamma being bannable is really dumb

And I respect your opinion. Just mine differs from yours and I was explaining why I disagree with you. Just don't judge someone's intelligence on one specific task, I'd rather have you take that away from this thread than why a mod should be allowed on a minecraft server.

I personally think that the UHC essentials should be kept as "bannable" in my opinion, if a mod or client gives an advantage over other players then it shouldn't really be allowed.

Is armor status allowed
Yes, all of bspkr's mods are allowed.

I can't necessarily explain the distinct advantage given by the use of increased gamma other than being able to see people's nametags. Certain rules here are a bit sketchy because we disallow things allowed on other servers, just make sure to stay away from using things like UHC essentials until all of this is sorted out.

I'd like to see how much of an advantage the use of a "gamma" type feature truly inflicts, however. This would be an interesting case to dive into, regarding what the actual effects of gamma are and if the use is truly unfair to all others.
