I couldn't agree with you more.Even if God is real, I can't respect a deity which allows things such as the Holocaust to happen and not do anything about it. Surely anyone in their right mind would stop something that horrific happening if they had the power to, no matter how much 'free will' you want to give.
Let's all be nice here. The least we could do is respect his/her opinion. The most we could do is respect his/her opinion. That is literally the most retarded thing I have heard in my entire life.
I apologizeLet's all be nice here. The least we could do is respect his/her opinion. The most we could do is respect his/her opinion.
Oh....I guess you didn't get my sarcasm. Because since the least we can do and the most we can do are the same then it's pretty unrealistic that his point actually makes sense and...ok I'll stop now.I apologize
The whole idea of a creator is flawed, it's not necessary.
Substance dualism is extremely flawed, if we are anything outside of our reality then we are brains in jars.I'm going to attempt to explain this the best I can.
"That which can be proven without evidence can be dis-proven without evidence"
This is one of the most common arguments I've seen towards an atheistic sense beliefs, and it holds as long as you hold deities in material. However the idea of a God can't be dis-proven without evidence either. God, or most interpretations of a celestial deity, doesn't exist in a material realm, and so using material evidence would be analogous to a book character using the story to disprove the author.
This is not to discredit science, I love science, being a physics major, with a possible change to biology. While not entirely infallible, science is our best tool to understanding the most complex and basic mechanisms of the natural and physical universe. It is not purposed or designed to credit or discredit an incorporeal being. It is a magnifying glass to observe and understand, not a hammer to drive in a point. I've seen a couple of beliefs on the existence of God vindicated with science, like they occupy a space in your psyche, and one cannot be there while the other is there. It is entirely reasonable to believe in God and science at once, and having faith does not make one an illogical imbecile any more than not having faith make one a moral-less sociopath.
Also science is NOT a religion. Whether or not you believe in science, the universe will behave in a way in which can predict. Also the word theory in science is used differently than in a typical sense. The casual use of the word would be closer to a scientific hypothesis, as in an idea, yet to be proven. A theory in science is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation". Evolution is a real thing, believe in it or not it is affecting the life everyday, as it had been since the beginning of life.
My personal beliefs is something close to animism, in which all natural things have some soul or conscience, from anything as small as atoms to as big as the universe. these souls are in no way divine however, but simply come with existing. I do not however believe in God or a god, nor do I follow any religion. In all definitions of the word I'm atheist, but that doesn't mean I can't philosophize about incorporeal ideas, it just don't think any worship or power comes with it or should go to it.
Sorry if I offended anyone, I tried to make that as sensitive as possible, feel free to respond with questions or opinions, I love learning about other beliefs.
How could it actually make sense? The thing that has absolutely no evidence supporting it is more likely than anything else that has even one shred of evidence pointing to the possibility of it being correct. The idea of a God is just simply an idea and cannot be proven or disproven, therefore if you believe in God, all you have is faith to support your argument and nothing more.Oh....I guess you didn't get my sarcasm. Because since the least we can do and the most we can do are the same then it's pretty unrealistic that his point actually makes sense and...ok I'll stop now.
Oh my gosh no no no xDWhile I'm agnostic, I also don't believe entirely in science and that everything included in that field is true. There is so much that we really don't know about, and religion and science are two ways of approaching this. One method is explaining our universe was created by a singular person, another is desperately trying to use actual tangible facts. Both of them aren't necessarily completely true because we have a limit as to what we can understand and perceive.
The word "theory" is slapped onto a surplus of scientific discoveries, from the big bang to gravity. Sure, there has been a ton of evidence to support these hypotheses, but theories are only commonly regarded as "correct". We will never have access to a book that explains everything we could ever imagine.
There is truly no limit as to where we can go from here. For all we know, this whole universe can be a third grader's science project. It's not like there's any scientific evidence to denounce it.
I'm not saying science is "bad", I appreciate the fact that we are trying to explain phenomena with actual tangible evidence, and while we think we have a lot of it covered, we'll never truly be sure. It would be impossible to test everything under every circumstance. We will never know if all planets are spherical or semi-spherical because we haven't examined every single planet in the universe to validate this claim. Who knows what may be out there? For all we know, there could be planets of shapes that we could never imagine.
I am not sure of my stand point pertaining to beliefs. While science seems more convincing than religion in my eyes, we'll never truly know the answers to all of our questions. Rules that we thought explained our reality are being proven wrong frequently.
This may sound dumb, but I like to think of the universe as whatever we want it to be. I've spent far too many sleepless nights pondering the origins of our universe and questions about it, and for the sake of maintaining my sanity, I'll think this way,
