Life is strange. One moment you're on top of the world, the next you've hit rock bottom. It brings us many happy moments, such as love and family, as well as sad moments, such as pain and loss. Life is the reason we are all here reading this thread. Almost all elements of life are taken for granted.
As of recently, my grandpa has been admitted into the Critical Care Unit (CCU) after cardiac arrest which has made me realize that we take a lot for granted. I always counted on my grandpa and never really though of him being gone. Now, my reality has been shaken up and he's in the hospital with a little over a day to wake up. If he doesn't wake up by tomorrow night, the plug needs to be pulled.
I was really close to my grandpa and he was always a healthy guy, so I never thought he'd be in this situation so early in his life. My grandpa was always a good guy that would help anyone out that needed help. He was always a happy guy and you could never really tell if he was stressed or mad because he was always just so happy. He was a hard worker and never gave up on anything, especially his family. He was married to my grandma for 42 years and has raised three sons that went on to create a big family, and he never gave up on any of us. He always put his family first and that's what you should do in life. Overall, he was one of the best men to ever walk this earth.
What I wrote above made me realize that I've been taking my family always being there for granted. Not everyone has family to support them and be with them when they are growing up. Even for people that do have a dependable family, anything can change in a blink of the eye, just as it has with me. Family is the most important thing in life and I can't imagine what my life would be with out my family.
After reading this thread, I want you to take a second and go tell the people close to you and the people that love you, how much you love them and how glad you are to have them in your life. They may find it a bit peculiar but it will mean a lot to them. Telling someone you love them will not only brighten up their day, but it may be the last thing you ever say to someone.
