The truth about PvP

So, over the years (yes years) people have debated who the best PvPer is, and saying players are better then others and stuff. I'm just going to put it out there that there is no answer. In some video games there might be, but to be honest, PvP is such a small aspect in Minecraft that it isn't very hard to be decent at it. Use sports as an example, it would be like saying someone is the best passer, which is absurd to even think, but nonetheless people say certain players are the best and believe it. This also causes pointless things like videos where someone will 1v1 Huahwi and make a big deal about it. Another big part about PvP is luck, there is a huge amount of luck in fights (sometimes ping, but usually other things). As is, PvPing in minecraft isn't very hard, and people make a bigger deal about winning fights against high ranked players then they should. Most high ranked players aren't up there because they are the best at PvP, but more the best at strategy. We can all agree that Gravey4rd isn't the best PvPer (he is really good though). He is at his rank because skilled at PvP, but he also has put a lot of time into the game, and is a very strategic player. I'm the same way as well, and so are a lot of other high rank players. Basically my point is, 1v1s mean nothing, and debates about who is the best is pointless. What really makes a player is their sportsmanship, without sportsmanship, you don't even deserve to be ranked.

Thanks for wasting your time reading my post.

I agree 100% with this thread. Even though you may be a fantastic PvPer in Minecraft, many people can still win by strategy.
  • People are able to hide and cleanup
  • Lead players to traps or suitable places to their advantage
  • Bow spam players in water
Even though you have to be decent at PvP to win some games, you can win a lot more by being strategic.

Minecraft pvp is far from luck-based, the MCSG part of it is.

Just take kohi for example, you're not gonna get beaten by a randy that doesn't even know how to hotkey. Then in fights against good people it's all about who has the best strafing pattern, who knows how to 8block, who has that cps and so on.

In mcsg it's just all rodspam and play defensive so you wont get into the rod and the fns and pray to god that he won't get the first 1.8 hit.

That 1.8 is what I mean by luck, there are just those lucky bs hits

As far as I aware, 1.8 is minecraft? Not just an mcsg update. Some servers are lame and won't update it though.
Pvping in minecraft isn't hard. 1.7 is also minecraft, and servers that don't update to 1.8 actually have developers with brains. I don't want to start a pointless argument xD
