Forums Out of Date?

Hello!
Recently, it has come to my attention that the forums format is a bit out of date. Every day, I get on the forums to see the same sections—most of which have died down and are mostly empty. In addition, a lot of the old section that use to be filled with discussions are starting to be filled with negativity, complaints, and flame. Some sections even have less than 15 threads. I have presented one alternative format to the Sr. Staff, but it wasn't as good as it could be and was turned down. After thinking about it, I wondered, what do you guys want? After all, you guys are the ones who get on the forums day after day. What changes would you like to see to the forums?

Some of the problems with the current format are causing some sections of the forums to die and others to rise, some of which in flame and negativity. Additionally, there aren't any discussion forums for the games added in last November, some of which are becoming more popular since the Gamemode Spotlight event began. Also, some forums are fitting under the incorrect section. For example, the "Feature Suggestions" forum is under the Survival Games, Quarter Quell, ZedChase, and MCTF2 categories but feature suggestions can be made for anything: the forums, any of our games, TeamSpeak, etc. Finally, some forums are unnecessary. The Survival section, for example, is unneeded considering that the server has been taken down and the administration has said multiple times it wont be coming back. I think it would be nice to see a more advanced, up-to-date forums structure.

Although the forums are "fine" the way they are now, I feel that there are certain things that should be added and things that should be extirpated. It may attract more people to the forums, and spark up discussions that have died down. Ultimately, the forums have been dying. With a possible forums renovation, we might get what we want: satisfactory, amicable discussions—something most of us have desired.

What do you think? What should be added? What should be changed?

I have to agree with you on this point. Whenever Im searching the forums it seems clan's spam the new posts page. I couldn't think of anything to add though.

We would like to have Moderators like you are. Not moderators with *NON-ACTIVITY* on the forums. Forum is very important thing for the community. Moderators need to be fast here. They need to watch/catch for a Necro's etc. I would like to say something to the Seniors: " Please watch the forum activity before accepting someone" .

Have a nice day Scott!!

I was really looking forward to for example the new Tech support ( or whatever it's called ) but it has been hidden away in the off-topic discussion. I am award that it's the best place it would fit in, but no one will find it there. I don't have any suggestion for this, but I would like it to be in a more "find-able" place.

Agreed, most off-topic discussions are gone unseen. It'd be nice to see something like that in a sub-section under general support.

Not to sound like the whining here. However some staff's post count is increased because they post on useless threads trying to increase their messages count. This does not help the community at all.

Ehrm, rarely. I think it's more people just love in-game and TeamSpeak moderation more than the forums, considering it can be a tedious task. All that aside, I would like to see more moderators on the forums. It would definitely help a lot.

EDIT: This is mainly focused on the format of the forums, but it can be expanded to any changes you'd like to see on the forums.

Suggestions:
-move "Off Topic" closer to the top
-make sure "Feature Suggestions" isn't being ignored
-combine minigames into one "MCG Mini Games" section
-make a giant list of all General Support questions and their answers
-possibly start using the forums for bug reports? (It would make reporting bugs easier, since only a forums account would be involved)
-have filters for the "What's New" tool (Clans and Teams threads clog it up)
-create a "Surveys" section (Could be really great for seeing what the community thinks about MCG things)
-delete/ move threads to their appropriate section after locking (No locked "help i'm banned!!" threads clogging sections)
-ask if users would support a mobile app in the future

I'd like a subsection in General Support, something like a resolved section. That way, General Support doesn't get clogged up like it is, but it is still there to look at if necessary. I also like the "MCG Mini Games" idea, it wouldn't flood the forums but there would be a place to post threads about them.

This is actually the opposite of me. I love the forums and playing in game but talking to people on team speak isn't really for me as I'm a bit shy. I don't like introducing myself however if you ever join my channel that Im in and start a good conversation I'd love to get to meet you.

My tips:
  1. Get rid of Sponsor Lounge. Nobody uses it.
  2. Mere all Feature Suggestions to one place. Use tags to differentiate gamemodes.
  3. like Electrix a Mini Games section would be good.
