I don't really play minecraft anymore (I wonder how many times I cried that in these forums xD), but I was wondering if it would be ok if I passed by in teamspeak once in a while to watch these lessons. I think they would be fun to watch :p

I've noticed an increase of hackers on AU servers recently.

I would like to take part if you were to ever do one, even though i'm quite good at catching hackers, there is plenty I could learn!

I would vote a great big yes for this. Training community members on efficiently identifying hackers could potentially be a very useful part for the community's growth and development. And if so possible, it could potentially lead to people aspiring to become a moderator to learn more from how the community works, furthermore providing more knowledge and experience that will help them throughout their time in the community. In addition to this, I have noticed cases to where people make false accusations on some individuals because they have died to them, so it will help teach more people the difference of someone hacking and someone who has some talent in the game. :D

This would actually benefit the community a lot in so many different ways, if players can identify hackers and report them, hacker counts should fall.

As long as some are suitable for EU timings, I am bound to attend. Ofcourse.

Just saying, this wouldn't effect false reports.
I believe it would, actually. And as Ceroria said, it would lower the amount of accusations in-game, which cause flame. Overall, I think that the community should have the opportunity to learn about them.

What exactly are going to be teaching?
Did you know that
-There are hacks that make other players look like they're hacking?
-Teleport hacks?
-Silent Aimbot

And how are you even going to begin to explain how to detect triggerbot..

I would love to join such session, but wouldn't it be more useful if you just record such session once, and then put in on youtube (with video's edited in and a black screen at the rest of the session) That would be more useful as people can pause it and watch when they have time, I think that would result in more people seeing it and using it.

The hacker identification training sessions are more for common hacks. Not the ones you'd see by members of the clan scene or those few "ghost-client" users. I have brought up thay fake hacker thing to the Sr. Staff and we have added that to our arsenal c:

In these sessions it's more about how to get solid evidence, what forms of recording it are okay (i.e first person perspectives for aimbot and killaura are often insufficient), and what the more basic hacks are. By this I mean aimbot, killaura, fightbot, speed, water walking, fast ladder, fast eat, no slowdown, no knockback, click aimbot (and difference between it and regular aimbot), etc.

Things like TB, CPS macros, that packet simulator/teleporting thing, and other less detectavle hacks are much harder to explain to the general public.

Hello folks,

Since earlier this month, the Senior Staff has been busy working with the Moderation staff regarding hackers. In particular, we wanted to make sure that our moderators' abilities to stop hackers, in addition to specifying what types of hacks are being used, are as accurate as they can be. As such, we have done a series of Hacker Identification Training Sessions for the staff, which walked people through what hacks are, what they do, what they look like, and how to best identify the hacks in question. Even the most veteran mods were able to learn a thing or two from these dedicated training sessions, and the staff is more capable because of it.

However, hackers are not just the staff's responsibility. With the number of Reports and Report Abuses that are sent to us every day, it is clear that the community has a significant amount of impact on the presence of hackers as well. As such, I feel that it is important for regular players to be skilled at identifying hacks as well.

So that now begs the question: should we offer some Hacker Identification Training Sessions to public players as well?

If we were to offer such training sessions, they would likely be identical to the ones we give the mods, and we may even teach mods alongside the attending players as well. However, given the nature of the training sessions and the subject matter at hand, the sessions would likely be limited in seating to those who offer to attend and agree to take the training seriously. Current course format involves discussions, verbal questions, and demonstration videos, and current hacker identification training sessions take between 1.5 to 2 hours.

I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts. Feel free to toss your opinions below.
I have been playing on these servers for about 3 years now roughly? I don't wanna come off as like full of myself or anything, but I have seen most hacks and have experimented with most all of them on my own server awhile back ago.

So I'm not saying I need the training, but if you guys are looking for someone who can help train, I'd really love to help. I'm sure I'd probably learn a thing or 2 myself :p. I'm defo not an expert.

I do get tired of seeing people in game accusing someone of hacking, so I go to spectate them, then they fight someone and the spectating people are like "omg such hacks" when its clear that there is no hacks there whatsoever. Educating the community was something that I always thought would be helpful. A lot of people seem to confuse good ping and connection for things like aimbot/kill aura.

One thing I always thought that would be a good idea, was make a thread or even put it in the rules section, to where it shows common and some not so common hacked clients that are used on the servers that are illegal here look like.

For example. Have a part where is says Kill Aura. Then have a description of the hack saying what exactly to look for such as like the head snap, the head looking sort of up in the air when fighting, etc etc. Then have a short little video tutorial afterwards showing example of what it looks like in minecraft.

It would be a kind of lengthy and time consuming thing to do, but I'm sure there is someone who would be willing to do it in the community, if not even a group of staff.

Most people just accuse good players of hacks ^.^

Therefore it might be good but I doubt it'd really make a change, not near enough will turn up in my opinion but who knows.
