I can agree on that. Even back when I was a mod, there was a point where a decent number of mods all resigned at once. I won't say the reason for all of it, but it seems like one person is mad about something, it gets spread around and people end up quitting that really didn't want to quit, yet they did it because a lot of others were. Some of it is inter-personal drama (we mitigate it, but we can't universally prevent drama), some of it is protests (many of those users reapply after tempers cool), some of it is convenient timing (school midterms and finals see the most resignations or LoA's), and some of it is just coincidence.
But I've found that one of the most consistent patterns for staff resignations is thus: people always resign after a new round of Trial Sr. Moderators are picked. I think people leave because they feel that they're being forgotten and don't want to wait for their chances next time, which is sad because many, many times those who resigned actually were slated to be nominated for the next round of Trials.
Ultimately, everyone leaves for their own reasons. I prefer to focus on who we have now rather than who we no longer have.
Then a month later you see a bunch of them reapply lol.
