The Mods Quitting

Some of it is inter-personal drama (we mitigate it, but we can't universally prevent drama), some of it is protests (many of those users reapply after tempers cool), some of it is convenient timing (school midterms and finals see the most resignations or LoA's), and some of it is just coincidence.

But I've found that one of the most consistent patterns for staff resignations is thus: people always resign after a new round of Trial Sr. Moderators are picked. I think people leave because they feel that they're being forgotten and don't want to wait for their chances next time, which is sad because many, many times those who resigned actually were slated to be nominated for the next round of Trials.

Ultimately, everyone leaves for their own reasons. I prefer to focus on who we have now rather than who we no longer have.
I can agree on that. Even back when I was a mod, there was a point where a decent number of mods all resigned at once. I won't say the reason for all of it, but it seems like one person is mad about something, it gets spread around and people end up quitting that really didn't want to quit, yet they did it because a lot of others were.

Then a month later you see a bunch of them reapply lol.

The entire staff does its best to keep drama to a minimum, and to maintain a polite and professional working environment for everyone.
But that doesn't mean it always stays that way. Most of the time, it's drama that people create on their own that permeates on outwards on its own. Suddenly a problem between two people becomes a problem among all people, and it basically turns into one of those TV high school drama story arcs (and it's not Veronica Mars nor Equestria Girls). There's drama everywhere for no reason, and it's very difficult for the Sr. Staff to defuse or deescalate; it's even worse when people don't tell us (we can't solve what we don't know about) what's going on, and suddenly we wind up with flame or resignations out of nowhere. Eventually people calm down, wake up, realize how dumb it all was, then bitterly end up reapplying.

This is true with all communities, not just us. No matter where you go, no matter who denies what, there will be drama.

(I'm glad I can actually be real with people when discussing stuff like this. I was half expecting this thread to turn into flame and speculation of a massive staff conspiracy/sink is shipping announcements)

pretty much the extended and detailed version of what I said xD, but yeah, as you said, drama is everywhere xD. Especially when majority of our community and staff are in that teen age.

As Rusty has said in the past,

You can write potato 10,000 times. Doesn't mean you'll be accepted.

Sad, unfortunate, but true. Whenever high school drama kicks up thanks to teenage angst, I always feel like this:

(Props to whomever has watched that movie)

Incidentally, that's how I was hired for the Admin position...

If you're on teamspeak, there's always at least one mod on. If a mod gets poked about someone hacking in AU, they go to AU. These past two months we've have gotten more mods then lost. But like the other mods said, we can't force mods to stay. But for sure, I'll be on CA more.
