Wtf are you talking about? There wasn't a death match of any sort in The Hunger Games.
I think he means when Katniss, Peeta and the guy from district 2 (Cato?) are fighting around the cornicopia at the end of the games in the first movie.

Anyway, I think that this is a nice suggestion but either way there will always be teams and if you want to win you have to learn how to take them out by yourself, instead of just teaming with a random person. 4 people dms would make the games shorter, and also would even encourage more teams of 3 in my opinion!

That's completely irrelevant as it is not a deathmatch at all...

Actually, mods have acknowledged it as relevant. The ending of the movie was a 2v1, whether you slap the word "Deathmatch" on it or not. Also, the mutts in the movie were forcing the last three tributes to fight, suggesting an arena battle concept.

Congrats. Mods have also said bs like "BSM makes u sprint backwards!!!!!!"

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the word "Deathmatch" is not defined as a 2v1. Deathmatch is when the remaining tributes are teleported to a designated location, such as spawn or a dedicated deathmatch areana. And then the tributes must fight and are unable to leave the arena, as they will get struck by lightning.

No. No. No. No. Have you even seen the movie/read the book? The mutts were active participants within the fight. They were not forcing the tributes to fight each other; they were also fighting.

Yes I know it wasn't a 'deathmatch' situation as such, I was just pointing out that there are 3 people left at the end of the first games fighting around the cornicopia, rather than 4. However, this isn't the main reason I disagree with a 4 person deathmatch and I have given my opinions and reasons why above.

First of all, you have to understand that the Survival Games is not necessarily meant to be "fair." In fact, the entire government and system in the book was unfair.

Second, deathmatch is not meant to be just the conclusion of the game. Everyone that makes it to the final deathmatch are the best forces in the game, even if they are a team, and since teaming makes you more likely to win, and since teaming usually makes you a stronger force, it's likely to end up fighting a team in deathmatch. It's supposed to be difficult to win the deathmatch.

Finally, four man deathmatches would increase the amount of three teams. A lot of people, including myself, don't like to go above a two team because you'd have to kill everyone else in the game. Four man deathmatches would make that a non-existent problem and people would start three teaming more, making the problem of getting killed by teams in deathmatch worse.

I understand why people would want a 4 man DM but it's a better idea to try and kill teams before deathmatch so you can run and use tactics more.

So you are saying that the actual Hunger Games ending is entirely irrelevant to the Minecraft version of it? In my head, I'm having trouble looking from that perspective.

I didn't mean deathmatch is supposed to be a 2v1, I'm saying that the ending to the movie WAS a 2v1. Many players don't want to go far off from the book, and 2v1s are relatively common in both the Hunger Games and the Survival Games. Making a 4 player deathmatch would stop that format.

The mutts are substituted with lightning in Minecraft, and is that forcing players to fight each other? Indirectly, but yes.
Also, I have read all three books and watched the movie. However, I'm still too lazy to watch Catching Fire or Mockingjay. :(

I agree on this. 2 people ALWAYS team against me at DM... Multiply my wins by 2 if there were 4 players in DM. It gets really annoying

You can probably tell from other posters already that this idea has been suggested numerous times before with no avail. Let me explain...

MCSG started back in April of 2012 with one goal in mind, and this was to create a game that would replicate The Hunger Games as close as possible. As you may know in the end of the Hunger Games there were 3 tributes left, Katniss, Peeta and Cato (A career), this is mainly the reason why there is still a 3 man deathmatch today. MCSG is not about wins, no matter what other people say, MCSG is a game to have fun with others and replicate the original Hunger Games and its trilogy of books.

Now about HiveMC... The Hive was not created solely for Survival Games, it was created as a mini games server with a few larger game types thrown in. The Hive is not intending to replicate The Hunger Games to a tee, rather they are trying to be different and stand out. If we simply gave in and put a 4 player deathmatch, MCGamer would not be as unique as it is.

I hope this clears a few things up, if you have any further questions feel free to PM me or a Moderator for more information.

Meh, I've come to live with the fact that if I manage to make it to the death match then there is a high possibility that I will run into a team. If it happens then I usually run round corn like a mad man to drag it out as long as possible in a hope they start killing each other. If not, then I just accept my fate! ;P
